Rising out of Berlin’s underground techno scene, producer and artist CRYME has become a must-watch figure who pairs the rhythmic energy of techno with the uplifting vibes of house music. Since stepping onto the scene in 2022 with his debut release CRY001, CRYME has earned a reputation as one of the most exciting new names in the electronic music sphere, delivering a slick fusion of impactful beats designed to light up dancefloors around the world.
In just a few years, CRYME has dropped five EPs and contributed to the Pornceptual 10th Anniversary VA. Always forward-thinking, he launched his own label called SEVEN, a platform dedicated to showcasing uplifting house music from queer and FLINTA* artists, helping underrepresented voices in the electronic music world and highlighting talents such as Sol Ortega and Bailey Ibbs, while also hosting tracks from collaborators like Cinthie and Deetron.
Reflecting his mission of inclusivity and positivity, his tracks shine with a sense of freedom and euphoria, which he’s brought to venues across Germany, Northern Europe, the UK, France, Spain and Asia, including sets in Korea and Japan. His growing global presence includes residencies with De Reünie and Pornceptual, as well as his recent debut at the iconic Basement New York.
Now he brings us his latest release with the brand new five-track EP titled REALITY RUSH, the third release on the SEVEN imprint. With a four-track edition released on vinyl ad a bonus remix featured on the digital version, the new EP offers the perfect snapshot of the latest chapter in CRYME’s exciting musical story.
Kicked off with the title-track “Reality Rush,” the crisp thump of the beat is met with the hazy pulse of silky synth textures and intricate sonic touches, gliding into a groove-driven dance experience of softly stabbed synths and shuffling drums. Flowing through moments of dreamy bliss and capped by airy female vocal elements, it’s a stunning showcase of CRYME’s creativity and superb sound design flair.
Christoph Faust then lays down his Detroit-inspired remix of the track, offering a deep, textural take that builds with hypnotic vocal chops and shimmering synth tones, resulting in a stellar interpretation of the original. “Aurora” sees CRYME frame his uptempo dance sound in a minimal setting where his intricate percussion work carries a mellow arrangement of stretched synth tones and smokey vocal sample shots.
“Orbit Exp.” serves up pattering drums that carry the listener through a mesmeric house voyage where woozy synths and sparse vocal dashes combine to create an engaging sound that’s energising and trance-inducing in equal measure. Closing the digital release with the bonus remix of “Reality Rush” by Romanian producer Mesmer, the EP concludes with another epic re-imagination of the track, slowing the energy a touch to capture the piece in a new light while retaining the infectious vibe of the original.
