Hailing from Ashquelon in Israel, Balaish is an artist and producer who offers his own unique voice to the electronic music scene. Influenced by the likes of Bad Bunny, he made his official artistic entrance in 2019 with his debut single “Ultra Instinct,” which he followed up with a string of well-received singles in the build up to his first full-length record, Dragon Ball Saiyan Rage, which arrived later that year.
Following a break from sharing his own original material, he now brings us the follow-up to his debut album with his single titled “Sound Of Jaffa.” The track draws inspiration from the historic city of Jaffa, crafting a spectacular collision that connects past and present through sound.
Recorded in his personal studio, Balaish’s latest work blends traditional Mediterranean instrumentation with modern electronic stylings and filters it through his experimental sonic lens. Using ancient instrumental elements such as the bouzouki, which Balaish sourced directly from Jaffa itself, this thoughtful integration of local elements adds an authentic charm to the track.
Opened by the bright strums and plucks of the stringed instrument, Eastern melodic lines snake above as the rumble of pulsing bass adds deep low-end energy. Dropping with the snap of rattling trap style hi hats and bold bassy textures, the track flows through an enveloping electronic scene that pulls you straight into a hypnotic groove.
Jumping with rhythmic switch ups, the punch of a lively beat ushers in stuttered instrumental elements to craft an immersive soundscape that’s mesmeric and energising in equal measure. Gliding with danceable groove and slick energy wrapped up in exquisite sound design, “Sound Of Jaffa” presents an epic sonic ride unlike any other.
Putting Balaish’s creativity and production panache on full display, it’s an incredible example of his fiercely original and thoroughly enjoyable sound. As he continues to share his compelling sonic vision, we can’t wait to see what this exciting producer has in store next.
