Over the last six years, Houston-based singer-songwriter Nate Vickers has been making a significant impact in the rock scene, stitching his emotionally-charged lyrical threads into anthemic musical moments. Growing up inspired by the sounds of bands like Linkin Park, Seether, and Nirvana, Nate took his first artistic steps with acoustic YouTube covers in high school, with his heartfelt renditions winning over audiences worldwide.
Today, he’s a breakout star in the modern rock revival, boasting staggering social media followings and millions of views on viral covers. His ability to connect with fans through his talent and poignant storytelling has seen him stake his claim as a rising figure in the modern rock sphere.
Capturing his sound in the studio, he dropped his debut single “Ghost” in 2019, which he’s followed up with several tracks and acoustic versions while clocking millions of spins online. His growing success also led to collaborations with some of rock’s biggest names, performing live with Jared Leto and 30 Seconds to Mars, as well as connecting with the likes of Fred Durst, Scott Stapp and Chris Daughtry.
Now he presents the perfect run through of his unique sonic vision with the release of his highly anticipated debut EP, A Little Too Late, released via the Oxide Records imprint. This seven-track project has been quick to make an impression, receiving airplay on Octane Radio and earning spots on editorial playlists.
Kicked off with the impassioned vocals on title track “A Little Too Late,” atmospheric guitar notes drift alongside Nate’s emotive voice as the arrangement builds with rolling drums and the rising intensity of his vocal delivery. Launching into a storming alternative rock soundscape, his soaring vocal leads spin gripping melodic hooks above the charging instrumentation to deliver a rousing and invigorating listening experience.
“I’d Rather D*e” lays down another epic alternative anthem cut with crisp drum beats, gritty guitar backing and powerful vocal performance, deftly balancing a dark, brooding aesthetic with infectious songwriting. With “Over & Over” the airy punch of drums and hazy wisps of guitar textures wrap around his voice as he casts a spellbinding scene before exploding with crashing drums and bold guitars to offer a spectacular showcase of his energising rock sound.
“I’m Fine” pairs lofty melodic lines and stomping rhythms to deliver an incredible dose of arresting alternative rock, flowing between moments of stripped back, dreamy vibes and engrossing energy. Framing his aching vocals in a more delicate setting, “Bury Me” shines with elegant piano chords and downtempo rhythms before rising with enveloping guitar layers. Closing the EP with acoustic versions of “Over & Over” and “Bury Me,” Nate offers alternative renditions of the tracks to conclude his sensational debut EP. Making an emphatic artistic statement, A Little Too Late marks an extraordinary moment for this truly talented artist and we can’t wait to see what his exciting musical adventure has in store next.
