Erik Hansen is a Washington-based rock artist making an impact as a solo act after his tenure with the band Fallen Angels. Known for his songwriting talent and instrumental skill, Erik’s solo journey is built on his passion for rock, as he steps into the spotlight to bring to life his own sonic vision.
Drawing inspiration from artists like Thin Lizzy, Black Sabbath and Soundgarden, Erik channels the enduring spirit of classic rock while putting his own spin on the genre. First stepping out under his own name last March via his debut EP, Seasons of the Wind, in June he returned with its follow up EP.
Now sharing his latest release, he brings us the third release in the series with Seasons Of The Wind III, a four-track release that offers the perfect snapshot of the latest chapter in his exciting musical story. Opened by the crash of distorted guitar and splashy drums on “Never Alone,” Erik’s powerful vocals enter above a galloping riff and charging energy to craft an anthemic rock sound. Packed full of epic hooks and bright backing vocals, the track shifts with with slick lead guitars in the instrumental section before launching into the thrilling finale.
“Free Me” follows with the lively strike of drums before crunching guitars enter with grooving rhythms to set up a swaggering alternative rock jam. Flowing with delicate melodic writing, enveloping layers of guitar and rolling drums, the intricate guitar solo ushers in a rousing crescendo on this stunning rock outing that deftly balances visceral sonic energy with melodic charm.
On “Take Me Home,” Erik shifts gears with elegant acoustic guitar flourishes crafting a breezy, mellow arrangement capped by laid back vocals. Carried by a gentle rhythm sway and peppered with graceful lead guitar flutters, it’s a superb moment that frames his alluring songwriting in a different setting.
Closing the EP with “Raven’s Wings,” Erik lays down another gritty rock outing built on the steady downtempo punch of drums. Once again putting his lead guitar flair on full display, it’s a spectacular finale to his gripping new EP which sees him continue to filter his influences from yesteryear through his own unique modern sonic lens, resulting in an engaging release that shines from start to finish.
