Ainonow is an artist and producer whose sonic journey began with the viola in an orchestra when he was nine years old. While his first musical steps were in a classical music discipline, his restless curiosity led him far beyond traditional compositions, exploring various bands and genres before immersing himself in the underground worlds of electronic music and hip hop. Hypnotic beats and intricate basslines became his obsession, encouraging his transition into electronic production and ultimately giving rise to the Ainonow project.
Since unveiling the Ainonow project in November 2023, he’s wasted no time in making an impact. His debut release, the double-sided single “Exile,” introduced listeners to his unique sound, fusing dark, heavy drum and bass with slick halftime rhythms and experimental bass music drenched in organic textures. That initial statement of intent was followed by “Bedlam,” a collaboration with Slaytoven and “Forlorn,” which arrived last October, both revealing more of Ainonow’s immersive musical world.
Now, Ainonow brings us his latest release, a brand new double-sided single featuring the track “Break It”and “Lilt,” released via the Onset Audio imprint. These new tracks exemplify his ability to flow between gritty, floor-shaking intensity and deeply atmospheric sound design.
Starting off with “Lilt,” the loop of tapped, mechanical percussive shots and sweeping synth stutters sets a hypnotic intro before a commanding voice rings out “let’s show these mother f***ers that it’s true and not just a hobby,” ushering in a burst of rattling beats and wubbing synth textures. Crafting an engrossing soundscape that’s at once energising and intense, “Lilt” sees Ainonow lay down an impactful beat-driven sound propelled by powerful bass tones, crisp percussive shots and cut with spliced vocal samples.
Stripping the arrangement back halfway through, the brief moment of respite gives way to the lively shuffle of uptempo rhythms and zapping synth elements, resulting in a spectacular showcase of the artist’s fiercely original sound and production panache. Gripping and exhilarating from start to finish, it’s the perfect display of his knack for balancing a forward-thinking sonic experience with an accessible dance music appeal.
With “Break It,” Ainonow casts an ominous sound of brooding instrumental timbres and dark, pitched vocal elements. Building the energy with the taps of hi hats, a charging beat breaks out as gliding synth tones stretch out below. Jumping into a punchy sound of stacked layers of pattering percussive tracks, the moody atmosphere of minimal synth arrangement allows the beat work to land front and centre, delivering a thrilling sound of experimental drum and bass music.
With riveting drops adding to the dynamic listening experience, “Break It” presents an epic soundscape that shakes throughout. Hitting the ground running with an exceptional new release in 2025, Ainonow continues to impress on his exciting exploration of electronic music and we can’t wait to see what he’s got in store next.
