Today, we’re joined by Producer and DJ LUCRE to dive into his newest release, “Phantom,” a raw, driving techno production that places his unique signature sound on full display, offering a hypnotic journey for listeners.
As he continues to take strides within electronic music, motivated to make his mark and keep up his artistic evolution, LUCRE shares insights into his creative process, the aspirations that guide him, and what fuels his work both in and out of the studio.

Hi LUCRE, how are you?
I am great! Thank you for having me.
Firstly, can you tell us about your process? Does your production workflow shift depending on the track you’re working on? How did your approach for “Phantom” compare to recent releases like “Infinity”?
“Phantom” and “Infinity” were developed around the same time. I wanted to create a rawer and driving Techno sound for the music I was working on, and these two tracks complement each other quite well. My creative process is guided by what feels right in the moment, allowing for a natural evolution of the music.
Did you set out with a clear concept for “Phantom,” or did the track evolve naturally during production?
‘Phantom’ came together relatively quickly. As mentioned, my goal was to craft a raw techno sound, a style I’ve been passionate about for years. This connection to the genre allowed the creative process to flow naturally and efficiently.
The track features powerful beats and a robust bassline – how did you go about developing these core elements? Do you have any go-to techniques you rely on when building the foundations of your tracks?
I consistently aim to incorporate industrial elements into my music. While I have my preferred plugins, I believe that with the right baseline and kick, the track naturally evolves and progresses on its own.
Is there an element in “Phantom” that pushed you outside of your comfort zone creatively?
Not specifically. I have a deep appreciation for raw techno, so creating music within this genre comes quite naturally to me.
How did you design the hypnotic lead that dominates the mix?
It’s a vibe, right? But, I can’t give away all my secrets!
What plugins, hardware, or techniques did you rely on most while creating this track?
Ableton provides a wide range of tools for developing and shaping one’s sound. Whether it’s experimenting with the EQ, overdrive, or even basic reverb, the program offers extensive capabilities. I will say, however, that my favourite reverb plugin is Valhalla.
Was there a point during production when you knew “Phantom” was finished and ready to release?
It came relatively quickly so I knew it was ready pretty much right away.
Do you test your tracks in live settings before release, or trust the studio process?
I trust my ears always! If it passes the studio and car test (IYKYK), it’s ready.
If you could have one artist remix “Phantom,” who would it be and why?
Dubfire. Easy. He’s a musical inspiration to me and I can see him really getting into “Phantom” and putting his own spin on it. Can you put a good word in for me? 🙂
Finally, what can listeners expect next from you after “Phantom”?
I got back into the studio with my wife recently and we created some killer new tracks with her as the vocal so stay tuned!
As our chat with LUCRE comes to a close, it is clear that his approach is all about instinct, authenticity, and pushing boundaries while staying true to his creative vision. With “Phantom,” he has added another strong statement to his growing discography — and with more music and fresh ideas already in the works, there is surely plenty to look forward to. So, be sure to keep an eye on LUCRE as he continues to shape his path on the Techno scene, following his journey via social media to stay updated on his upcoming releases and performances.
