Artist Eddy D’Amato continues to go from strength to strength in the electronic music sphere with the release of his latest two-track EP, Distorted Perception, released via the SURO Records imprint. A producer and DJ known for his high-octane sound and forward-thinking approach, Eddy builds on his growing discography with a pair of tracks that reflect both his artistic consistency and creative development.
Each cut offers a snapshot of a producer who’s clearly locked into his sonic identity while still pushing into new sides of his musical world. The title track, “Distorted Perception,” opens the EP with a heavy-handed dose of dark energy. Driven by pounding drums, growling bass and tense synth lines, it walks the line between industrial grit and club-ready momentum.
His use of stuttering melodic fragments and abrasive textures pulls the track into the realm of tension and release, stitching in a moody, almost cinematic atmosphere without losing any of its dancefloor appeal. There’s a mechanical precision to the way the elements unfoldl every beat hits with intention, every synth sweep feels dialled in.
Following up, “Feeling High” keeps the adrenaline pumping by picking up where the opener leaves off, channelling a similar energy while expanding the sound. With a low-end that feels both massive and controlled, “Feeling High: layers in melodic flourishes and subtly shifting textures that give the arrangement a sense of constant motion.
Processed vocal snippets cut through the arrangement, adding a human element to the otherwise machine-driven soundscape. It’s a track built for the late-night peak; intense, immersive and thoroughly punchy. Together, the two tracks form a cohesive unit, showcasing Eddy D’Amato’s command over tension, dynamics and rhythmic architecture. While he continues to explore heavy sonic territory, there’s a clarity in the way he delivers it, both tracks are finely tuned, clean in the mix and structured with a clear sense of progression.
Distorted Perception doesn’t just underline Eddy D’Amato’s technical panache, it also highlights his growing knack for mood and movement. These are tracks that feel purposeful in their design and even in their most intense moments, they avoid excess. Instead, they hold tight to a balance between pure energy and compositional control. As he continues to roll out material, each new release reinforces his position as a name to watch.
