Coming out of London’s underground with a mix of creativity and pop confidence, Dan Devlin is fast becoming one of the city’s most exciting new voices. A singer, songwriter, producer and DJ, he’s already staked his place with a sound that blends emotional intensity with bold, hook-driven production, writing songs that sound like catharsis and feel like fuel.
From heartbreak to healing, his music shines with relatability and wide appeal, wrapped up in a slick alternative pop sound that’s unique and truly engaging. Working from his London flat, he self-produces much of his output, shaping a sound that’s at once intimate and lofty, primed for the biggest stages. He brings a DIY energy to his work, not just in the way he builds his tracks, but in the way he’s building his career; writing for other artists, DJing across the UK and channelling his personal ups and downs into songs that strike a chord with listeners everywhere.
Stepping out as a solo artist in January, he unveiled his original sonic vision with his debut single “Chasing Highs,” which he quickly followed up with songs two and three while winning over fans across the UK and beyond. Now he brings us his latest release with his brand new debut EP titled SCREAM, a three-track release on which he shares, “This project makes me want to SCREAM out the top of a sunroof after leaving an ex on read.”
Opened by “Love Pill,” the bubble of spacey instrumental plucks is met by the crisp punch of the beat as Dan’s smooth vocal leads glide in to spin instantly catchy melodic leads above. Flowing through passages of dreamy sonic bliss, the chorus erupts into an anthemic burst of alternative pop where infectious vocal hooks spin emotive lyricism, resulting in a memorable and meaningful soundscape.
With “Want Me Back,” he serves up an immersive arrangement of softly clicked percussion and sweeping synth textures as his impassioned vocals ring out above. Launching into a dance-focused scene, the pulse of bass synth rumbles below the steady stomp of the beat as Dan threads lively vocalisations throughout to deliver an engrossing pop music experience from start to finish.
Closing the EP with the new focus track “Better Off,” the gentle swell of misty synth tones underpin his soulful vocal performance as the rattle of percussion injects an uptempo energy, jumping into a spectacular sound of stunning vocal leads and energising instrumentation. Peppered with airy vocal textures and intricate rise and fall, it’s a sensational showcase of his superb songwriting and performance panache, delivering an unforgettable pop sound that’s equally invigorating and emotive.
From start to finish, on SCREAM, Dan Devlin lays down an incredible display of decisive pop songwriting, wrapped up in impressive production and led by his alluring voice. It’s a stellar outing that firmly plants him on the map of must watch artists on the rise on what’s sure to be his breakout year in 2025.
