Super Creeps come from their own unruly corner of the Bay Area music scene with a fiercely original sound that cuts pure chaos with intensity. Hailing from Alameda in California, the duo harnesses a blend of noise punk, doom and fuzzy blues to craft music combines distortion-heavy guitars with vocals that veer from laid-back country drawl to full-throttle belted delivery, giving their tracks a volatility that feels alive and wholly unpredictable.
What they’ve built is all about energy, a sound designed to shake up stages and hit listeners square in the chest. Live performance has always been at the heart of Super Creeps’ reputation; their thrilling shows have earned them a growing audience across the Bay Area and beyond. From appearances at Burning Man SF Decompression to community-driven gatherings like SF Porchfest and even the San Jose Rock & Roll Marathon, their name has become synonymous with high-octane sets.
Capturing their sound in the studio, they made their entrance in 2019 with the debut single “T.N.B.,” returning in 2022 with their eponymous debut EP. Since then they’ve showcased their prolific creative output, delivering an impressive catalogue of releases across multiple singles, EPs and full-length records. Produced in collaboration with Grammy-winning Reto Peter, whose credits include work with Green Day, Modest Mouse and Counting Crows, A Bug’s Life channels the band’s lofi aesthetic while ushering in an exciting new chapter of upcoming releases.
Now, they return with their latest studio effort, a three-track EP titled A Bug’s Life, a release that captures energy, gritty tones and an instinct to keep things lofi and direct. The project embraces unrefined garage rock energy while stitching in infectious hooks that ensure their sound is at once memorable and abrasive in all the right ways.
Kicked off by title track “A Bug’s Life,” the soft plucks of guitar sets an inviting tone as the gentle texture of filtered vocals spin delicate melodies as the arrangement takes off with the punch of drums. Flowing with grungey vocal leads, the hazy crunch of distorted guitars ad splashing drums, the chorus serves up a catchy slice of the duo’s unique brand of rock music. Equally intricate and impactful, it’s an epic display of their songwriting talent and performance panache wrapped up in a slick three-minute dose.
“Accomplice To Murder” enters with the bounce of lightly gritty guitar tones as the snap of shuffling drums and expressive vocal performance carries the song into a pop-tinged alternative rock scene. Swelling with thumping drums and thick guitar tones in the chorus, the track delivers bursts of charging energy as the song marches towards a spacey crescendo of warbling guitar leads.
Closing the EP with “Extended Adolescence (Red Version),” the strike of drums brings in impassioned vocal leads and drone of stretched guitar notes, developing with the blues-inflected groove of stabbing riffs and powerful vocal performance. Capturing Super Creeps’ live and in-the-moment style, the track lays down a smokey jam to provide a gripping finale to their superb new EP. Commenting on the release, they share, “This EP wasn’t overthought. It’s just us back in the studio, making music and having fun. We’ve got a lot more coming.”
