Indolore is an artist whose journey from the French West Coast to the stages of Paris and New York has resulted in an impressive output that’s struck a chord with fans around the world. Born of distant Irish origins and raised among coastal horizons, he’s forged a modern romanticism, a folk style that’s been braided by jazz, travel and heartbreak with a tenacious creative flame that keeps them smouldering.
Early years with the band Shine saw him opening for artists such as Sia and Morcheeba and collaborating with Terry Reid, experiences that developed his talents and unique songwriting. Back in 2014, his debut EP Positive Girls made a significant impression with the hit single “Je RĂŞve D’ĂŠ” while his solo shows soon became a laboratory for intimacy and live storytelling. Small triumphs built into larger recognition, resulting in a welcome nod from SXSW and a growing appetite for his voice.
His records provide detailed snapshots of his sound, with Love Letters from Eylenda, recorded at Sigur RĂłsâ studio in Iceland and released in 2017, yielding the indie anthem “Let Me Find Out.” During lockdown he wrote and recorded After the Rain in Paris; the 2021 sophomore album which received critical acclaim. In 2023 he expanded his musical footprint by recording an EP in Nashville, an exercise in cross-cultural curiosity that landed on a Rolling Stone Magazine playlist, followed by the single “Way Home” and the EP Paris later that year while last summer he realised a long-held ambition by playing three shows in New York across two days.

Now, following a brief hiatus from sharing his sound, Indolore marks his return with the brand new single titled “L’instant d’après,” the first single lifted from his upcoming French EP La Vide Face A, set to be released next month. That record will serve as Side A of a vinyl LP; an English-language Side B is slated for release later this year or in early 2026. Listeners who’ve followed him from Positive Girls to Paris will recognise the through-line; a musician who keeps expanding, reworking his own vision and inviting you into the next chapter.
Presenting a brief two minute slice of intimate folk pop music, with “L’instant d’après” he casts an enchanting musical spell that’s sure to melt away any stresses with a charming outing. Brought in by Indolore’s soft vocalisations and the distant drift of stretching instrumental tones, the bright plucks of acoustic guitar add a lilting rhythmic sway as the arrangement develops with warm piano notes and delicate vocal melodies.
It’s a truly absorbing soundscape that invites listeners to slow down and reflect, leaving them with a sense of dreamy lightness. It’s a delightful new offering from an artist who resumes his enduring and decorated musical adventure with the promise of more musical magic on the way and we can’t wait to see what he’s got in store for the rest of 2025 and beyond.
We caught up with Indolore to find out more about his musical journey so far, his new single “L’instant d’après” and what he’s got lined up for the future. Check out our interview with Indolore below.
Howâs things?
Everything is fine! I am very happy to present the work of an entire year. The moment a new song is released is the most unpredictable moment in an artist’s life. And here we are!
Whatâs your earliest memory of making music?
I started out improvising. At the end of my teenage years, assuming they are now over :), I immersed myself in jazz. At the time, my saxophone and I would go on wild, uncontrolled flights of fancy! In the years that followed, I found a more composed, more universal means of expression by taking up the guitar and piano.
Which artists do you draw most inspiration from?
Recently, I have been deeply moved by the songs of Quebec artist Louis-Jean Cormier. This partly explains my return to the French language on this new record.
How else do you find inspiration for your music?
Inspiration can come from anywhere, from any detail of life, as long as you are open and receptive at that moment. As for my new song, âL’instant d’aprèsâ (The Moment After), it came from observing my own daily life, my romantic relationship in its simplest and at the same time most expressive form. I truly believe that love is found in the details, in the subtleties.

Whatâs been your highlight for the year so far?
I would say the emotion I saw in the eyes of my loved ones as they listened to âL’instant d’après.â It’s a wonderful and fortunate feeling.
What do you love about the Paris music scene?
To be honest, I live in Paris, but I don’t frequent the Parisian scene much. I find it rather dull, stuck in traditional music industry patterns. Unfortunately, as in other cities, intimate live music venues are becoming increasingly rare.
What would you say is the perfect setting for listeners to enjoy your sound?
I am aware of the certain degree of intimacy that emanates from my music. So I would say that it is probably best listened to alone, on your bed, in your car, or in the middle of the street with headphones on to escape the surrounding chaos.
How has your own style and sound evolved since you started out?
I don’t know if style evolves. I think it can take a lifetime to find your style, and the rest of your life to refine the best way to express it. I feel like I’m entering the second category.
Who would be your dream artist to collaborate with?
Actually, I had the immense privilege of collaborating with a unique and legendary artist, British singer and songwriter, Terry Reid. He became a friend and mentor to me. Sadly, he passed away this summer. It broke my heart. I invite everyone to listen to Terry Reid’s incredible music.
How did you find making your new single âL’instant dâaprès”?
We were talking about inspiration earlier. In the case of âL’instant d’aprèsâ, I experienced something I had never experienced before. You’re probably going to think I’m crazy! Hereâs what happened: I was at home, in my kitchen, drinking coffee, when I looked at my guitar sitting a little further away. And then, believe it or not, I felt it calling me! I got up, picked it up, and started playing. The first thing that came to me was the chords and melody of âL’instant d’aprèsâ. It was just incredible! Music is magic, isn’t it?
What message did you want to get across with this release?
The message of this song is simple and direct. I address it to myself and, I hope, to many others: we must have faith in what lies ahead, in the next moment (lâinstant dâaprès). Just feeling this faith brings joy and a precious sense of well-being. It can come naturally or be the result of a daily commitment to oneself.
What artist have you been listening to most recently?
When I’m writing or recording, as I have been this year, I often return to the music of Miles Davis, to his magical way of liberating spaces we never even suspected existed.

Whatâs the main thing you want people to get out of listening to your music?
I just want them to find some peace in my music, to rediscover a sensitivity that everyday life too often represses. I just want to connect with people without imposing myself.
Whatâs been your favourite live performance so far?
I have a particularly vivid memory of a concert in Iceland, in a very intimate venue in Reykjavik, where the audience was incredibly attentive. We were almost in communion. It was impressive and inspiring. Every musician’s dream on stage.
Who would be 3 artists to headline your dream festival?
If this is a dream, then I have the right to mention artists who are no longer with us right? đ What about: Mozart, John Coltrane and Elliott Smith.
Do you have any advice for a new artist wanting to follow your footsteps?
Be honest.
Finally, what do you have lined up for the rest of the year?
âL’instant d’aprèsâ is the first single from my French EP âLa Vie Face A,â which will be released in October. It will be the A-side of the virtual vinyl (for now) that I’ve had in mind for a long time. The B-side, the English side, will follow in a few months. I am very proud of this record and I will do everything I can to make it a physical object, important to me and hopefully to many people.
Letâs celebrate âLa Vieâ!
