From the gym floor to the global techno stage, Daniel Stevens, better known as LUCRE, has enjoyed a career defined by intensity, innovation and unrelenting drive. Hailing from Chicago, the artist, producer, DJ and entrepreneur has always moved with purpose. Before stepping into the world of music full-time, he made his mark in the fitness industry by founding Premier Fitness, a lifestyle brand that reimagined the gym as an exciting space blending health and nightlife energy. It was that same sense of creative adventure that would later propel him into electronic music and quickly make him one of techno’s most promising new figures.
In 2020, he shifted his full attention to music, emerging as LUCRE with a sound that’s impactful and entirely his own. His distinct brand of dark, propulsive techno has already caught the attention of leading names in the scene, with Amelie Lens opening her radio show with his track “Infinite Attraction” and Nicole Moudaber featuring “Unicorn” on the 450th episode of her acclaimed In the MOOD series. Those nods from two of techno’s most respected figures speak volumes about LUCRE’s rising stature, a reflection of both his production talent and his presence within the international circuit.
LUCRE’s growing global reach has seen him perform at high-profile events, including Rammstein’s official concert afterparty and major international sporting event celebrations. His tracks regularly find their way into the Beatport Top 100, each release reinforcing his reputation as a producer with both technical skill and creative flair. Every move he makes feels deliberate, driven by an inner rhythm that mirrors the same discipline and finesse that once fuelled his business success.
Now, LUCRE turns the page with his latest release, the Flesh EP, a four-track statement that ventures further into the darker edges of his sound. Out via his own label, Sound Market, the EP captures a producer at full-tilt and across its runtime, he explores the intersection of intensity and atmosphere, where industrial grit meets hypnotic minimalism. Built on layers of pounding kicks, metallic percussion and dense textures, the record feels at once physical and psychological, an exploration of what happens when rhythm turns primal.
Following the brooding atmosphere and pulsing rhythm of opener “Muscle,” the title track “Flesh” follows with heavy low-end energy beneath dystopian pads and shuffled percussion. From there, “Cartilage” deliver relentless energy, with syncopated synth lines and gritty textures pushing the EP into abrasive yet engaging areas. Closing with “Skin,” LUCRE pulls listeners deeper into his sonic sphere, blending mechanical motifs with an eerie spaciousness that drapes over the powerful kick of the steady beat.
Flesh EP represents a thrilling moment for LUCRE via a statement of artistic intent. His label Sound Market has become an outlet for his growing artistic autonomy, a space where he can shape his sound without compromise. Built on discipline, talent and a relentless pursuit of originality, LUCRE’s journey continues to unfold on his own terms and with Flesh EP, he proves that for him, techno is an extension of self, sharpened by vision and driven by creative exploration.
