Cycamore is a collective of musicians whose fingerprints can be found across the very fabric of modern music. Based in Nashville, they’re the legends behind the legends, the players who’ve shaped countless records, backed the biggest names and quietly built the soundtracks of generations. Now stepping into the spotlight together for the first time, Cycamore brings decades of experience, chemistry and talent into one exciting force.
Their music is a fusion of classic origins and modern outlook, resulting in a sound that’s timeless and thoroughly engaging. Cycamore is the perfect example of the enduring magic of collaboration; drummer Eddie Bayers, a towering figure in Nashville’s music scene, has played for acts like Vince Gill, George Strait and Garth Brooks, while claiming an unprecedented fourteen Academy of Country Music Drummer of the Year awards and he remains the only drummer ever inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Guitarist Jeff King’s track record includes sharing the stage and studio with Faith Hill, Johnny Cash and Dave Matthews.
Fellow guitarist Pat McGrath, one of Nashville’s most in-demand session musicians since the early 90s, is revered for his acoustic work with Dolly Parton and Carrie Underwood. Pianist and producer Dane Bryant brings decades of creative experience, having worked with Clint Black, Olivia Newton-John and Dolly Parton, while bassist Mike Brignardello, a founding member of Giant, has lent his sound to everyone from Amy Grant to Shania Twain.
Together, their collective history spans hundreds of albums and thousands of performances, but as Cycamore, they’re all about reclaiming the joy of making music for the pure love of it. Their upcoming record, The New Old School Album, captures that context perfectly, offering a modern reflection of the past where vintage inspiration meets modern aesthetic.
Their new single titled “The Heart of America” reimagines a song that first touched millions in 2005 during NBC’s Habitat for Humanity campaign which raised over $100 million for families rebuilding after Hurricane Katrina. Cycamore’s new version arrives at a time when its message feels more necessary than ever, distilling the spirit of unity and determination, the track swells with wailing guitars, driving drums and soft tambourine shakes to craft a sound built for raised lighters, swaying crowds and connection.
Fronted by Adam Cunningham’s soulful and impassioned vocals, “The Heart of America” channels the hope and humanity that defines Cycamore’s mission to remind listeners that the threads bringing us all together are stronger than the forces dividing us. As Dane Bryant explains, “In a time when we face so many challenges, we want to remind everyone of the threads that connect us all — our shared humanity and love for this country.”
The accompanying video amplifies that sentiment, spotlighting everyday Americans, the fighters, dreamers and builders alongside intimate studio footage of the band in their element. Cycamore may be made up of industry veterans but their debut marks a beginning, not a finale, presenting a celebration of music’s power to unite, heal and inspire. The New Old School Album is set to expand just that, serving up a love letter to art, the country and the camaraderie that keep the heart of America beating.
