Coming out of Rhyl on the coast of North Wales, Sister Envy is an exciting new band lighting up the UK’s alternative rock scene. Featuring the talents of frontman Kameron Jolliffe on lead guitar and vocals, Ryan Roberts on drums, rhythm guitarist Matty Waring and Callum Jones on bass, the group formed in college and officially came together as a band in 2022, united by a shared love of riffs, emotional context and energy that shines both on stage and in the studio.
By February 2024, they were ready to share their sonic vision with the world and unveiled their sound with their debut single “Mourning Sickness,” making an impressive entrance that firmly planted them on the map of must watch bands on the rise. Followed up by singles two and three, with “Tide” and “Swallowed By The Ground,” Sister Envy have continued to go from strength to strength with a highly original sound that deftly balances the melodic appeal of indie rock with the gritty impact of alternative stylings.
Taking cues from acts like The Smashing Pumpkins, My Bloody Valentine, Dinosaur Jr and Hum, they’ve forged their own sonic output that’s dense, immersive and emotionally open-ended. Kameron approaches songwriting with a painter’s touch; his lyrics are layered, impressionistic and deliberately ambiguous, allowing space for the audience to draw their own conclusions and arrive at their own interpretation.

Now, having recorded new material for their upcoming debut EP, Sister Envy brings us their latest release with their brand new single titled “Oral,” a song Kameron penned to capture Sister Envy at their loudest, fiercest and most assured. Recorded at the revered Motor Museum Studio in Liverpool, the track injects a more potent energy into their sound by turning up the tempo and overdrive to craft a thrilling alternative rock anthem that’s exhilarating and memorable from start to finish.
Jumping straight in with the patter of punching drums, the pulse of fuzzy bass guitar sets a moody scene as the track launches with crunching guitar chords and hazy lead notes. Simmering down to make way for Kameron’s expressive vocal leads, his catchy melodic lines roll over the bouncy arrangement before the swell of charing instrumentation lands with a surge of sonic energy, forming a gripping listening experience.
Brimming with relentless forward motion, epic hooks and invigorating energy, “Oral” sees Sister Envy deliver an incredible showcase of their songwriting flair and performance panache. With their highly anticipated forthcoming debut EP on the horizon, Sister Envy are sure to win over countless fans across the UK and beyond on their exciting musical adventure and we can’t wait to see what they’ve got lined up next.
