Coming out of Columbus, Ohio, The Theos Variant are exploring a new frontier in modern rock through a cinematic, high-voltage sound that feels at once accessible and otherworldly. The duo, made up of vocalist Dan Lentz and multi-instrumentalist Geoff Haught, have been earning a stellar reputation for music that hits as hard emotionally as it does sonically and with their fusion of alternative rock, metal and post-grunge influences, they’ve forged a sound where crushing riffs are offset by soaring melodies and moments of chaos giving way to haunting stillness.
On stage, the project transforms into a full-band experience, joined by Kevin Haught on bass and Jason Hughes on drums who channel the sort of energy that feels like a detonation. The Theos Variant first arrived in 2023 with their debut album Auras and since then, they’ve continued to develop, dropping a string of singles that showcase their versatility while winning over fans around the world.
The industry has taken notice; over the past two years, the band’s momentum has translated into a string of accolades that reflect their rising international stature. They’ve been nominated for RadioWigwam’s Best International Band, the World Entertainment Awards and were finalists in both the Intercontinental Music Awards and the International Songwriting Competition. In the USA, they also earned finalist status in America’s Next Top Hitmaker, confirming their status as one of rock’s most exciting modern acts.

Signing to Rock Sun Records last year, they’ve started working on their forthcoming second full-length album, expected to drop later in 2026. That creative expansion is already evident in their latest single titled “Starfall,” a track that distils a moment where The Theos Variant’s influences and ambitions collide in perfect sync. Revolving around a vast, atmospheric soundscape, “Starfall” drifts between light and shadow, pairing reflection into impact and intimacy into sheer sonic power. Thematically, the song explores ideas of longing, determination and the subtle beauty that surfaces in moments of collapse and rebirth.
Launching with the rattle of punching percussion, stacks of charging guitars form an all-consuming wall of sound that surges before dropping back to leave space for Dan’s restrained yet impactful vocals to cut above. Tinged with industrial darkness, wrapped in alternative aesthetic and instilled with anthemic energy, the track swells into an enthralling chorus where pounding drums, layers of driving instrumentation and theatrical vocals ring out to deliver a spectacular musical moment.
It’s a thrilling rock ride that brings riveting energy and memorable melodic moments from start to finish, offering the perfect showcase of The Theos Variant’s incredible sonic vision. As they continue to go from strength to strength with each new release, we can’t wait to see what their highly anticipated sophomore record has in store.
