For over three decades, Marcus Voss has lived and breathed underground electronic music from the industrial energy of German warehouse raves to the shadowy corners of the UK’s illegal party circuit, his journey has been one of experimentation and determination. Now, under his latest alias mindwax, the Hamburg-born, UK-based artist distills a lifetime of sonic exploration into a project that’s at once informed by history and entirely attuned to the future.
mindwax represents a full-circle moment; after thirty years of traversing shifting scenes and trends, Marcus has forged a sound that fully eschews compromise. His style brings together hard techno, minimal, melodic techno, tech house and house, but the most significant element of his sound is it’s intent. Each track he produces carries the physical context of the underground, heavy kicks, industrial grit and hypnotic repetition, all balanced by a deep understanding of space and texture.
His artistic mission extends beyond sound to his newly launched imprint BLACK WAXX, a label and creative collective dedicated to uncompromising underground music. Founded last year, the label serves as both a home and a hub, a space where artists can share ideas, collaborate freely and explore the fringes of electronic music without external interference.

Under the mindwax name, he first introduced this vision in March of last year with his debut single “A Quiet Moment,” a hypnotic, high-octane statement that revealed the poise of a veteran who knows when to hold back and when to strike. Followed up by singles two and three with “Diminished” and “Lose Control,” now mindwax carries that momentum forward into 2026 with his brand new single titled “CRYO,” an industrial-leaning techno piece that prioritises feeling over form.
There’s no interest here in flashy drops or overcompressed spectacle, “Cryo” builds its coiled power through restraint where a saturated kick punches through the mix while intricate sonic details and subtle filter modulations create constantly shifting tension. Carried by an ever-present sense of motion, the spacey flicker of sliced vocal samples bounce across the mix as rattling percussive elements flutter around the heady pulse of the rhythm, crafting a truly trance-inducing techno scene that gradually snakes through a morphing musical world.
The track flows with a steady, deliberate energy, letting the groove speak for itself and from the low-end rumble to the sparse high-frequency textures, it’s designed to envelop listeners in a truly consuming musical experience. Paired with the track is a music video that frames the music in an engrossing visual setting, taking listeners on a mesmeric voyage full of colour and story-focused intensity. After thirty years immersed in underground culture, mindwax continues to operate at the apex of what comes next with music that’s supposed to move you, not impress you.
