Hailing from Glasgow, newcomer Lynney Williamson is rapidly confirming her status as one of the most exciting new voices in modern pop. Her music captures the essence of 80s nostalgia while remaining firmly based in the present, serving up a warm blend of dream pop, synth textures and emotional storytelling that feels equally cinematic and intimate.
With every release, she continues to brings together eras and genres, reimagining the glamour and mystique of the past through the lens of contemporary pop. Her songs shimmer with synth-driven warmth, alluring vocals and heartfelt lyricism that invites listeners to step into her world where heartbreak and hope exist side by side. Drawing inspiration from icons like Kate Bush, Stevie Nicks and Heart, she channels their ethereal spirit while crafting a sound that’s entirely her own.
Lynneyâs creative journey is informed by the idea that pop can be both accessible and profound; her songwriting is direct yet poetic, written for anyone whoâs ever looked out a window searching for meaning, for those moments when the night sky feels like the only listener. Each track is a snapshot of emotional context, wrapped with a retro fabric that makes her music instantly recognisable. Last summer saw the release of her debut single âShadows,â while the follow-up, âSTARS,â explored the quiet heartbreak of being misunderstood in love, pairing reflective lyricism with a stripped back piano-focused arrangement.

Now, Lynney continues her rise with âI See You,â her third and most emotionally compelling single to date captured in a dreamy slice of 80s-inspired synth pop that frames the bittersweet beauty of connection in the face of hardship. Thematically, âI See Youâ is about empathy, reflecting on a friendâs journey through struggle and determination but while its subject matter carries emotional weight, the music shines with optimism and uplifting energy.
Collaborating with Myke on keyboards and Fumez on mixing, the track was recorded in Lynneyâs walk-in cupboard studio, a space that mirrors the DIY ethos behind much of her work. Brought in by the pulse of fuzzy synth notes, the track jumps with the punch of crisp percussion and bright instrumental flickers, rolling into a funky synth pop jam packed full of infectious groove and capped by Lynney’s magnetic vocal performance.
Flowing with instantly catchy vocal lines and cut with dashes of intricate guitar notes and flashes of colourful synths, “I See You” serves up a dazzling electronic pop experience that’s nostalgic, cutting edge and utterly intoxicating all at once. It’s a stunning display of Lynney Williamson’s sensational music vision, showcasing her knack for distilling an 80s inspired sound in a way that’s engaging for today’s audience.
We caught up with Lynney Williamson to find out more about her musical journey so far, her new single “I See You” and what she’s got lined up for the future. Check out our interview with Lynney Williamson below.

Hey Lynney, howâs things?
Things are really good right now thanks. My new single has just dropped and My EP is incoming on the 27th of February so it’s an exciting time. The response to I See You has been amazing.
Whatâs your earliest memory of making music?
My earliest memory of making music was when I was 14 and had a yamaha keyboard that I was given and created my own little songs using the demo song on the keyboard. One being about my brother getting locked in the toilet ha ha.
Which artists do you draw most inspiration from?
I draw my most inspiration from bands like Heart, Inxs, pet shop boys, tears for fears and fierce females like kate bush, stevie nicks and Sharon van etten.
How else do you find inspiration for your music?
I find a lot of inspiration from real life situations and usually my songwriting is based on life experiences of myself or people around me or a feeling that maybe a film or another piece of music can make me feel. I get a lot of ideas from listening to music in a car looking out the window.
What was your highlight of 2025?
My highlight of 2025 was getting the confidence to just go for it. I had spent a lot of time going through hard times from losing a lot of family members, developing an eating disorder and then realising that I had undiagnosed adhd so releasing music was like releasing all of that out of a cage for me.
What do you love about the Glasgow scene?
The Glasgow music scene is very much Getting Together as I call it. You have a lot of intimate pubs/venues that just bring everyone together as a community to make memories and have a good time, like the Clutha, King tuts and The Barrowlands.
What would you say is the perfect setting for listeners to enjoy your sound?
My own style has always been a bit quirky and I love wearing what I like. A bit like my personality on a plate for all to see, so sometimes a bit of a goth but also very colourful a bit like Wednesday and Enid ha ha. I love nostalgia and it can bring a hug to someone on a hard day and If I can bring that colourful comfort to someones day along with some deep and meaninful lyrics that is a good day to me.
How has your own style and sound evolved since you started out?
The perfect setting for my music would be a nice retro cafe/diner or a retro pub even an arcade that has loads of 80’s inspired fixtures and fittings. A bit like taking you back to Saturday mornings in the 80’s eating cereal and watching cartoons.
Who would be your dream artist to collaborate with?
My dream artist to collaborate with would be Sharon Van Etten I am sure we could come up with a synthpop synthwave epic song to bring to everyone.
How did you find making your new single âI See Youâ?
I found making the single I See You emotional but happy at the same time. The lyrics are very emotional as they are about watching my friend struggle with life at that particular time I wrote it, but I didn’t want to sing a sad song I wanted to make it bright and happy even though the lyrics are deep something that she could get happiness from instead of tearing up. I then asked My friend Myke Amor to work on an 80’s inspired instrumental with his keyboards and he sent me the main instruemental which I just loved. I then added a sweet dreams inspired intro using miami synth sounds and then a sparkly synth outro along with cassette tape sounds and then let my friend Fumez from Eastlondonrecordings listen to it and he loved it so much he asked if he could mix it so he did and we get the amazing I See You in all it’s glory.
What message did you want to get across with this release?
I want to get the message across that even though things can be emotional and hard we can take some joy along with it as-well. We all have hard days things are tought but we also need laughter and dancing and having fun so if I can bring depth and fun to people with this song that is amazing and also take them back in time to a childhood memory too.
What artist have you been listening to most recently?
I have been listening to a band called Red Cell a lot they are darkwave band their song white sharks gets me everytime. My producer Evolution his tracks are fire.
Whatâs the main thing you want people to get out of listening to your music?
I would love for people to feel like I really made them feel warm and happy but also that I am really listening to them at the same time.
Who would be 3 artists to headline your dream festival? And where would it be?
I would love my friend Mayah Camara who is another synthpop princess to be one, also an amazing synthwave band called Vice Shores and also all my fellow eastlondonrecordings artists so it might need to be a bigger concert ha ha.
Do you have any advice for a new artist wanting to follow your footsteps?
I think the best advice I can give is keep doing things for you, don’t listen to negative people. If you have the passion and keep going you will do good things. Also enjoy the journey the journey is what is going to make you and enjoy every moment. You are all awesome.
Finally, what do you have lined up next?
I have an EP lined up next which is four songs that will have you wanting to drive around at night in your car while listening and I am also working on an album at the moment too hopefully will be released towards the end of the year. I have some gigs in the pipeline too so stay tuned folks
