At the crossroads between ambient and slowcore styles, silent collision has built a sound that feels like a state of being; guided entirely by intuition, it’s a project that transforms sound into something diaristic and human, offering a way of documenting experience through tone, texture and stillness. silent collision’s music is all about noticing, it’s about catching the faint wisp of emotion that flickers between thoughts and turning that into artistic expression.
The artist’s work simmers with analogue hiss, lo-fi edges, the subtle warmth of tape and touch while chasing presence, creating sonic spaces that feel like listening to someone think aloud. Over the past eighteen months, that artistic path has developed across a series of singles, EPs and a full-length record, Storms Within Stillness, forming an intricate fabric of reflection and sound design.
Now, with the release of the new EP titled Air Vent Lullabies, silent collision has distilled that context into something even more intimate through an exercise in attention, built from one quiet, ordinary moment. The project began in a hallway when late at night, unable to sleep, the artist lay on the floor listening to the buzz of an air vent.
That low, steady vibration, constant and strangely melodic, became a sort of accidental composition, a reminder that beauty often hides in the background noise of life. That moment became the seed of Air Vent Lullabies and across the six-track release, recordings of that same air vent serve as the framework, filtered and reshaped into tonal layers that feel at once earthy and ethereal.

Opening track “Look at the Sky” lifts directly from “A Light Emerges” off the debut record, retracing previous artistic steps in a new musical light where the stretch of soft textures and gentle taps of percussion bloom into a stunning downtempo instrumental piece. Mellow rhythmic energy and sweeping instrumental layers combine to form a soundscape that’s uplifting and wholly absorbing from start to finish.
Drawing from unreleased ambient material, “Exhale, Inhale” crafts a hazy scene of washing electronic tones as fluttering elements float through the arrangement, resulting in a hypnotic piece that’s intriguing and highly transportive. “With the Stars” follows with the sparse pulse of echoing percussive shots, gently sliding into an enveloping composition of soothing, stretched textures and the intricate patter of tapped rhythmic shots.
“Empty Hallway, 4:14am” arrives as the EP’s emotional centrepiece, leaning into more avant-garde vibes where no clear structure leaves room for a sense of stillness stretching out into the dark. Title track “Air Vent Lullaby” pairs the soft rumble of buzzing sound with the muted zap of rhythmic synth shots as airy tones hover above, casting an oddly spellbinding listening experience that loops in subtle melodic elegance.
The only track untouched by the past is closing piece “Darkness Within Darkness,” a new composition that stands as the EP’s quiet heart via a moment of pure creation unburdened by memory. The soft plinks of piano notes and smokey sonic atmosphere takes listeners on a mesmeric journey that slowly progresses with melancholic tone and all-consuming arrangement. It’s a record best experienced the same way it was made, in stillness and solitude, letting the air move around you as the music whispers and somehow, that makes it feel infinite.
