Coming out of the northern Iranian province of Gilan, Ayk is making an impact within the developing underground music landscape. Both a rapper and producer, Ayk has spent the last five years crafting a sound that brings together hypnotic hip hop with experimental electronic textures. Working as part of the musical collective Twilight Marauders, his sonic output places equal emphasis on rhythmic experimentation and reflective lyricism, resulting in a style unlike any other.
Ayk’s creative identity has developed through a process of exploration; as a beatmaker and lyricist, he builds music that balances atmosphere and intensity, often pairing layered production with intricate storytelling. His evolving vision recently reached a major milestone with his debut release on the R&S Records imprint, a Belgium-based label that’s long been associated with forward-thinking electronic music and artists.
Releasing music through such an influential imprint represents both recognition and an opportunity to introduce Ayk’s work to a wider global audience and his arrival on the label comes in the form of his new track titled “Demon In The Mirror.” Revolving around the concept of underground psychedelic hip hop, the release blends atmospheric beats with profound lyrical themes, creating a listening experience that feels at once immersive and unconventional.
The title track pairs smokey production with Ayk’s reflective vocal delivery which floats through layered textures and rhythmic tension, giving the impression of a sonic landscape that’s constantly shifting beneath the listener. Set up by a jaunty scene of vintage textures, the track jumps with punching beats and slick rapped flow backed by woozy instrumental elements to form an energising slice of alternative hip hop that’s moody and catchy in equal measure.

Yet “Demon In The Mirror” doesn’t exist as a single interpretation, the project expands through two remixes that reinterpret the original track in radically different directions. Producers Som.1 and Trash Cells each contribute their own versions, transforming the material while maintaining its core identity.
Som.1’s remix introduces a rumbling breakbeat energy that reshapes the rhythm of the track with crisp percussion and warbling vocal processing. The remix leans into electronic momentum, pushing the beat forward with dance-focused energy while retaining the atmospheric aesthetic of the original composition.
Trash Cells takes a more abrasive route, taking the track toward a heavier sonic territory. In this version, guttural vocals, deconstructed rhythms and saturated guitars collide to create an intense reinterpretation that edges toward nu-metal influence. The remix amplifies the darker elements of the original track, turning them into something raucous and confrontational, offering another gripping reimagining that frames the original version in a completely new setting.
Ayk’s release has already begun attracting attention from influential figures across the music world with artists and tastemakers such as Charlotte de Witte, DJ Harvey, James Lavelle and John Kennedy all supporting the original track. As his momentum continues to build, Ayk’s work suggests the arrival of a new voice within the underground scene that’s set to leave a lasting impression.
