Coming out of South London, alternative rock duo Blisssymbols have earned a reputation for testing the limits of guitar music with a sound shaped by experimentation and imagination. The band, made up of two brothers, have spent years absorbing the energy of the local scene before taking their own creative direction.
Much of their early development happened on the South London circuit revolving around the Windmill in Brixton; that scene has become known for its embrace of unconventional sounds and Blisssymbols spent years immersed in its creative atmosphere. Their mission is to combine the avant-garde spirit of their surroundings with a stronger focus on classic songwriting, resulting in a slick rock sound that’s struck a chord with fans across the city and beyond.
Blisssymbols blend experimental textures with melodies and arrangements that remain recognisable within familiar rock stylings, where barking guitars, saturated drums and wide, expressive vocals form the pillars of their sonic vision. Capturing their sound in the studio over the last five years, they made their entrance in 2021 with the debut single “Heaven,” which they’ve followed up with a string of well-received singles that trace the development of their sonic vision.

Now they bring us their recent single titled “Galactus,” named after the all-consuming villain from Marvel comics, the track explores themes of mass consumption and the endless hunger of modern society. The reference acts as both metaphor and atmosphere, turning the song into a reflection on the way desire and excess shape contemporary life wrapped up in a grooving alternative rock anthem cut with angular guitar lines, punching drums and dynamic vocal performance.
Jumping straight in with the splash of cymbal, the bite of guitar plucks rolls above the fuzz of pulsing bass and shuffle of the beat before the vocals glide in to craft a moody slice of pop-tinged alternative rock music. Flowing with sweeping atmospheric textures and surging to a melodic chorus full of memorable lines and energising instrumentation, it’s a wholly absorbing sound that’s catchy and fiercely original.
Progressing with intricate instrumental flourishes, the lead guitar flickers with stuttering lines before setting up a gripping finale of crashing drums, smooth vocals and stabby notes to leave a lasting impression of the song. Having shown no signs of slowing down on their thrilling musical adventure, Blisssymbols continue to stake their claim as a pioneering act operating at the apex of the UK’s alternative rock music sphere.
