When Miist first sat down to write a song in 2022, it wasn’t driven by ambition or long-held dreams of a music career; at 34, with no formal training and no background in composition, the moment came from something far more casual, a desire to prove a friend wrong. By the end of that same day, she’d written three original songs, unknowingly setting in motion an exciting musical adventure.
In less than two years, Miist’s rise has been defined by both speed and scale, going from complete beginner to internationally recognised artist, her output has grown to more than 65 finished songs, with eight co-written alongside Narada Michael Walden, a producer whose legacy includes shaping major hits for global artists. That collaboration would go on to form a key part of her early development, bringing together her songwriting flair with a seasoned understanding of pop structure and production.
Her breakthrough came in a way that marked a historic first, with “Move Your Body Slowly,” Miist became the first native Chinese artist to secure a Billboard Top 30 Pop hit, while also reaching the number one spot on the Indie Billboard AC chart. That momentum carried into the release of her debut album, The Songs From The Living Room, which arrived in August last year. Produced by Narada himself, the record blended elements of classic pop and disco with modern dance production.

Central to her work is a philosophy she describes as “meaningful music for a difficult world,” an idea that informs both her songwriting and her relationship with listeners. This perspective becomes even more apparent in her upcoming 2026 initiative, The Love Project, which now officially launches with the lead single titled “Love Will Show Us the Way.” Created in collaboration with Mauro Malavasi, the project extends beyond music into a broader, multimedia experience, incorporating video, podcasting and community participation, all revolving around the idea of love as something collective and actionable.
Miist invited people from around the world to submit footage capturing simple acts of kindness; small, everyday gestures that often go unnoticed. The response was immediate and widespread, with contributions arriving from different countries, cultures and environments. These clips, filmed in living rooms, city streets, classrooms, hospitals and parks, now form the “Love Will Show Us the Way” video. Together, they create a patchwork of human connection, offering a contrast to the often artificial nature of mainstream pop visuals.
The song itself offers a dazzling piano pop outing where Miist’s graceful voice floats above a delicate arrangement of piano and strings, casting a dreamy listening experience instilled with hopeful lyricism and tender melodic songwriting. What began as a single, uncertain moment in 2022 has grown into something thoroughly meaningful and truly profound, and with her new single, Miist presents a stunning showcase of what The Love Project has to offer.
