Sunstroke Rain is the artistic banner of Swedish artist Karin Turesson, a performer who’s spent years moving through different sphere of the music world before stepping out as a solo artist. Based in Sweden, she’s earned her reputation through collaborations and live work alongside established names, gradually forging a voice that now leads her new project. Under the Sunstroke Rain moniker, she blends electronic pop with melodic dance textures, creating music that feels at once reflective and energetic.
Before launching the project, Karin had already played alongside artists such as Nina Persson, Tingsek and Robyn, experiences which opened a window into different musical worlds, each bringing its own rhythm and perspective. The sound that emerged from that background draws from a broad range of influences, carrying echoes of figures such as Björk, Prince, Janelle Monáe, Daft Punk and David Bowie. Synth-driven pop structures meet futuristic production touches, while rhythmic grooves keep the music based in the euphoric energy of dance culture.
Her debut album Spark arrived in 2022 and marked the first full introduction to the Sunstroke Rain world, quickly establishing the project as one to watch, drawing attention from tastemakers around the world. Two years later, she continued building that momentum with the 2024 single “Life is Sacred,” extending the same sense of melodic ambition that rippled throughout her earlier work, further strengthening the project’s growing audience.

Among her recent collaborators is UK producer Mera Bhai, with whom she has been developing new material scheduled to appear throughout this year and beyond. Their partnership now continues with the release of “Another World,” the second track created together, offering a song that began in a stripped-back form, built around little more than bass and chords. At first, the simplicity of that structure felt almost too minimal to carry the song forward but everything changed once the chorus emerged, transforming the original idea into a moment of inspiration that shaped the final composition.
Thematically, the song explores the feeling of waking up to a world that suddenly feels altered, where things once believed to be permanent can unexpectedly fall apart and within that tension lies the emotional heart of the track. “Another World” holds together a fragile moment, capturing the sense of trying to steady yourself while everything around you shifts and for a few minutes, the music creates a space where those feelings can exist without needing resolution.
Set up by the airy pulse of soft synth textures as the taps of crisp percussion inject a steady forward motion, intricate flashes of vocal shots add dashes of melodic colour while the arrangement rolls with grooving rhythm. Warm bass elements and woozy piano chords wrap around Karin’s silky voice as she casts a dreamy slice of stunning dance pop music that’s invigorating, mesmeric and infectious all at once.
It’s an incredible new outing that puts Sunstroke Rain songwriting flair and performance panache on full display, resulting in a magical musical moment that’s truly impossible not to love. As Sunstroke Rain continues to release new music across 2026, the project remains defined by that balance between movement and meaning.
