Operating from the creative crossroads of sound, image and experimentation, Komok is the latest artistic venture from London-based Italian composer Alessandro Inglima who originally started out as a bass player before exploring the sphere of cinematic music. With this new project, he steps fully into the world of electronic music, embracing groove, texture and sonic exploration as the central pillars of his creative process, resulting in a project that feels curious and adventurous, constantly shifting between genres while maintaining an identity of instrumental storytelling.
Although Alessandro’s career has long involved sound design and composition, this project marks his first complete immersion in electronic production as a primary artistic language. Through Komok, he moves freely across several electronic styles, blending elements of acid house, big beat, IDM and leftfield electronica where rhythms bend and stretch, synth textures shimmer and distort and grooves play out with a relaxed but lively momentum.
Taking cues from acts like Daft Punk and Aphex Twin as well as inspiration from vaporwave aesthetics and the distinctive sonic textures of vintage video game music, Komok crafts a fusion of nostalgia and futuristic imagination. This year, he’s making his entrance via his debut full-length record, Protopia, a work which builds a speculative world through music and accompanying visuals.

Unveiling his sound with the lead single “Quasi-Human[e],” he now brings us his sophomore outing with the track titled “Elliptisk Galakse.” Fully instrumental, the piece lands as a drifting electronic voyage driven by shimmering arpeggiated synths and a flexible, funk-infused bassline which injects a sense of danceable groove to the track.
Filtering in with the pulse of kick and sweep of colourful synth lines, the track builds with popping bass notes to form an infectious rhythm as shuffling percussion adds to the forward motion. Flowing through moments of stuttering synth elements, memorable melodic flourishes and a hazy finale of smokey vocal shots, it’s a wild electronic ride from start to finish packed full of thrilling twists and turns. Elements of 90s and early 2000s electronic music surface throughout the track, yet they appear transformed, reshaped through Komok’s experimental lens.
It’s a sensational showcase of his creativity as a composer as well as his sound design flair, offering an utterly transportive musical experience unlike any other. As Komok, Alessandro Inglima has created a must watch new project and with the release of Protopia on the horizon, we can’t wait to see what this exciting producer on the rise has in store on what’s sure to be his breakout year.
