Music has always been present in the life of Christo Sedgewick, it was there from the beginning, stitched into memory in small, vivid moments that would go on to shape everything that followed. His earliest influences weren’t abstract or distant icons, but his parents, the first people to place sound, rhythm and storytelling into his world.
As his world expanded, so did his listening and artists like The Velvet Underground and Randy Newman opened new doors, while figures such as Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young and Tom Waits reinforced the idea that songs could hold entire worlds within them. There were long stretches of time soundtracked by singular albums, like driving through a four-hour traffic jam with nothing but Bone Machine on repeat, absorbing every crack and creak in the recording.
The list of influences kept growing. R.E.M., Built to Spill, Pavement and Yo La Tengo each contributed something distinct, while blues and soul voices like Taj Mahal, Sonny Boy Williamson and Howlin’ Wolf and later discoveries, including Van Morrison, Bill Callahan and Michael Kiwanuka, continued to shape his perspective. Christo’s aim as a songwriter himself is to make music that’s meaningful and challenging, something that can hold both sadness and joy without resolving either completely.
Working alongside his band, The Fabulous Regrets, Christo has built a catalogue that reflects that vision. First unveiling his sonic vision in 2024, he released his debut record, Beauty all Around, which he followed up with his sophomore LP, Bright are the Days last year.

Now Christo Sedgewick & The Fabulous Regrets are back with their third full-length album titled The Lonesome Tender Hollow Of The Night. Where earlier work leaned more towards indie rock, this latest record settles more fully into blues, folk and Americana influences; the shift feels natural rather than abrupt, as if the music has simply followed its own instincts to a new place.
Opened by “The Dead King Hunts And Eats The Gods,” a bluesy groove flows with bright harmonica leads and lightly gritty guitar work as Christo’s expressive voice rings out above to form a classic blues rock jam packed full of rhythm and memorable melodies. “Highway 12” leans into a delicate folk scene where bright guitar plucks and mellow rhythmic energy cast a dreamy slice of rootsy musical charm.
“Bowen” glides with smooth lilting sway as Christo’s graceful vocals and the flicker of distant harmonica float atop a laid back country arrangement to present a timeless musical moment. Other highlights on the album include songs like “Election Blues” with its rustling march of drums, twanging guitar lines and animated vocal performance carrying storytelling lyricism to deliver an engaging jam that gradually builds throughout.
With “Paper Birds,” the soft patter of percussion and warm clean guitar tones offer an elegant setting to frame Christo’s enduring songwriting in an intricate arrangement. Closing the album with “Splice,” the steady punch of drums is met by the smokey texture of metallic guitar tones as Christo’s hazy vocals hover above to serve up a hypnotic finale to his superb third full-length record.
