Maribelle has always existed in motion, moving between disciplines, countries and creative identities, but with her latest project Maribelle // A new spring, she begins to settle into something quieter, more delicate. A Norwegian singer-songwriter and trained musical theatre performer, her early years were informed by the structure and scale of the stage, studying at the Performing Arts School in Gothenburg before going on to perform internationally.
That background built a performer comfortable in front of an audience but it also set up a shift that would arrive later, which turns the focus toward something more personal. Her transition into a solo artist marked the beginning of that change; after releasing a pop and rock debut album in 2015 followed by a run of electronic pop material, Maribelle gradually began to move away from the external and into something more reflective.
Since 2011, she’s been steadily building her presence through releases, performances and festival appearances across Norway and beyond, including an international tour of Japan in 2025. Her journey now finds its clearest expression in Maribelle // A New Spring, a project inspired by alternative pop, dream pop and world music influences, caputuring a sense of openness and an embrace of silence, of space, of moments that aren’t filled but allowed to breathe. It’s a direction that feels aligned with her growing interest in the inner life while inviting listeners into a cinematic environment where storytelling flows gently.

That context first surfaced in January with the release of “Only Human” and now, with “A Prayer,” Maribelle ventures further into that world. The track arrives as the second piece of her upcoming album and carries with it a sense of quiet intention that frames the idea that music can reach places language simply cannot. The song creates a space where listeners are encouraged to let go of what came before, to step outside of fear and reconnect with something softer, something more hopeful, a subtle shift away from the noise of everyday life, a pause that feels increasingly rare and necessary.
Brought in by the shimmering plucks of string as the swell of instrumentation forms an immersive soundscape, the song flows with drifting textures as Maribelle’s ethereal voice flutters above the stripped back arrangement. With the laid back pulse of percussion injecting a lilting rhythmic sway, layers of vocals swirl as Maribelle’s stunning leads stitch dancing melodic leads into the dreamy musical fabric. Mesmeric, original and thoroughly engrossing all at once, the song casts a spellbinding musical experience that finds an intricate balance between accessible songwriting and fiercely unique sound.
Equally hypnotic and memorable, “A Prayer” sees Maribelle //A new spring craft a magical musical moment that’s sure to charm listeners around the world. As she continues to go from strength to strength on her exciting musical adventure, we can’t wait to see what comes next on what’s sure to be her breakout year.
