Pop Rock from The Knockaround Band

The Knockaround Band feels like a band that was always going to happen, even if it took a few pauses along the way to fully take shape. Formed from a long-standing friendship between Carleton Koldyke and Julian Stacey, the band’s origins stretch back to grade school, where the first seeds of collaboration were planted. By 2017, those early ideas had bloomed with the pair writing songs, stepping onto stages around the Chicagoland area and gradually shaping a shared musical vision.

When a band begins from years of knowing how the other thinks, plays and reacts, the music tends to carry a certain ease, even when it’s aiming for something high-energy. That context echoes throughout The Knockaround Band, where the chemistry between its founding members feeds directly into the sound. It’s a connection that survived the disruption of the pandemic and even while live performance paused, the songwriting didn’t stop.

That persistence eventually led to a reset and in 2024, The Knockaround Band arrived in its current form, expanding into a trio with the addition of guitarist Ian Harsh. Together, the three form a unit that leans into momentum, building an engaging pop rock sound designed to feel energising and memorable. Catchy melodies, driving guitar lines and compelling vocals combine in their sound and in April 2024, they made their entrance with the debut single “Keep Your Head Up.”

Over the last couple of years, they’ve followed up with a string of well-received tracks and now they brings us their latest release with their new single titled “Broken Heart Seal.” The track centres on the complicated process of moving on from past heartbreak and allowing yourself to be vulnerable again, framing the idea that healing isn’t linear and that the decision to trust again comes with risks as much as rewards.

Wrapped up in their instantly catchy pop rock sound, the track starts with the bubble of pulsing instrumental tones before the crash of drums injects a driving energy. Flowing with rustling percussion, an intricate blend of guitars and synths and capped by infectious vocal leads carried by impassioned delivery, the track surges into a bright chorus that shakes with lively hooks and invigorating arrangement, resulting in an epic musical moment that’s guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
