Coming out of Oslo, Zueva has been creating a sound that feels at once intimate and powerful, offering an alternative pop sound unlike any other. As an artist and producer, she builds her music from contrasting elements, stitching organic textures into electronic fabric to form something that’s entirely her own, a sound where softness meets impact and where melody is often offset by a darker, more atmospheric undercurrent.
She took her first steps as Zueva in 2022 with the release of her debut EP 5:1, a project that introduced listeners to her fiercely original sonic language. It didn’t take long for the music to travel; the single “Heather” found a place on Spotify’s Indie List and Alt.Indie Summer playlists, while the EP as a whole gained airplay from NRK P3. That early recognition extended across platforms, with support from outlets including 730.no, NPS and Bands of Tomorrow, confirming Zueva’s status as an artist worth paying attention to within Norway’s growing alternative scene.
Every release feels like a continuation of a wider world she’s building, where sound design and emotional tone are just as important as the songwriting itself. Her sound continued to develop last year with the release of “forget,” a single that opened a new chapter, followed by “Later,” which was selected for NRK P3’s Best right now list in November.
Alongside her recorded output, her live performances have begun to expand her reach, with appearances supporting Mörmaid at Uhørt in Oslo and St. Niklas at Brød & Sirkus, as well as a performance at the Kva er Kvalheim Festival in Måløy. That same summer, she was named Artist of the Week by GAFFA Magazine, a moment that reflects both her momentum and the attention gathering around her work.

Now she brings us her latest release with her brand new single titled “So Far,” lifted from her upcoming EP, miss u. The track thematically revolves around the emotional limbo of trying to move on from a relationship while still being unable to fully let go, a relatable context distilled with nuance, capturing not just the sadness but the tension and confusion that sit beneath it. Brought in by the swell of woozy synth sweeps, Zueva’s soft vocals glide in to spin silky melodies above before the beat kicks in to inject a driving energy.
UK garage-inspired drums provide a shifting rhythmic base, while warm synths and heavy bass create a sense of immersive aesthetic that feels almost physical. Capped by her expressive voice, the balance between gentle delivery and charging alternative pop motion forms an engaging soundscape that wraps around you while memorable melodic lines hover above.
Reaching a gripping breakdown of hazy atmosphere and stripped back vibes, the pulse of half time rhythms gives way to rattling percussion to set up an enthralling dance-focused finale. It’s a stunning showcase of Zueva’s arresting sound that puts her songwriting talent and performance flair on full display, offering an epic listening experience from start to finish. As she moves toward the release of miss u, “So Far” feels like a key piece of the puzzle and we can’t wait to see what the rest of the release has in store.
Commenting on the single, she shares, “The song starts with the realisation that you’ve been taken for granted and that the relationship has reached its end. As it progresses, the lyrics shift into longing and yearning, while the instrumentation becomes more intense and chaotic. It builds towards a chorus and outro that make letting go feel less like acceptance and more like a punch to the gut — a delayed reaction to the unfairness and pain of it all. In contrast, the melody remains light and almost playful, which feels increasingly ironic by the end.”
Adding, “The song came to me in a single day, but I spent a long time developing the production and mix. That process took a lot out of me — ironically, considering the song is about struggling to let go — but it was also incredibly rewarding and taught me a lot.”
