London-based outfit Monday’s Monsoon have built their identity in the space between intimacy and energy, offering music that folds dreamy indie rock into folk spheres, pairing thoughtful writing with soulful arrangements that move through an array of emotions. Influenced by artists such as Elbow, Fink, John Butler and Radiohead, the band have created a unique sound that’s struck a chord with fans across the UK and beyond.
Since making their artistic entrance in 2023 with their debut EP Cool Your Jets, the group have continued to move with steady output. A sophomore EP and two singles followed the next year, before their first full-length record Sink/SwimFly arrived as a defining step forward. Alongside the studio releases, they’ve earned a reputation for live performances marked by sincerity, energy and a sense of shared experience.
Across multiple sessions at QUBE Studios and Press Play Studios in London, the band developed a style based in emotional understanding and melodic appeal. They describe those spaces as places where they were able to “make magic” and the results suggest they mean it. Former Elbow drummer Richard Jupp also recognised something special in their work, praising songs he described as “really well written,” with lyrics that are “really sentimental, really intimate.” Now, with momentum building after their Bristol debut at Mr Wolf’s and ahead of an upcoming performance at The Castle in Whitechapel, Monday’s Monsoon return with a new single titled “Something New.”

Thematically, the song recounts a tale that feels painfully familiar to many people; it captures the emotional uncertainty of entering a new relationship after escaping a toxic past. It understands how old damage can distort fresh beginnings and how hesitation can follow even the most hopeful moments but ultimately, the track moves toward trust, becoming a song about choosing love despite the risks that memory tries to impose.
Brought in by the delicate flicker of acoustic guitar, a folk-tinged scene takes shape while the patter of rustling drums and graceful violin textures are met by tender vocal leads. Flowing with delicate melodic leads and soft piano backing, the song casts a dreamy listening experience with poignant lyricism and warm tone. Building with splashy cymbals and a smooth surge in energy, the chorus lands with stunning vocal lines which stretch out above the rising instrumentation before floating back down into the mellow verse.
Dashed with intricate string flourishes and progressing through a mesmeric, orchestral-focused bridge, “Something New” sees Monday’s Monsoon return with a spectacular new release. For a band already known for creating room for listeners to feel seen, this latest release feels like a natural progression as they continue to prove that thoughtful songwriting and emotional honesty can still feel thrilling. With “Something New,” they offer a captivating statement of intent from a band growing more assured with every step.
