For decades, Crunch has existed close to the centre of hip hop culture without fully stepping into the spotlight himself. Long before this latest chapter as a recording artist, Crunch had already lived through the sort of experiences most rappers reference second-hand in lyrics. His story moves through film sets, iconic music videos and industry circles that helped shape a generation of hip hop and pop culture, building an output based not in mythology, but direct experience.
Based in Los Angeles, Crunch brings an unusual perspective to modern hip hop precisely because his relationship with the industry stretches far beyond simply releasing music. One of the most intriguing aspects of his journey came through his close association with Tupac Shakur, serving as both stand-in and double for the late artist across landmark films including Poetic Justice, Above the Rim and Menace II Society. He also appeared in Tupac’s influential music videos for “I Get Around” and “Keep Ya Head Up,” placing him inside defining moments of 1990s rap history.
Crunch describes that period as “a cool learning experience,” but the impact clearly runs deeper than casual nostalgia. Working closely around Tupac exposed him to both the creative ambition and pressure that came with tackling the music industry at its highest level. He also played a role in helping launch the career of Guy Oseary, who would later become manager to Madonna and owner of Maverick Records. Elsewhere, he collaborated with a young Christina Milian, featuring her in the music video for his track “Turn It Up” when she was just thirteen years old.

After years mastering the mechanics of the industry, he now arrives as an artist in his own right through his signing to the SoundPulse imprint and the release of new single titled “Lost for Words.” The track marks an exciting moment in his artistic adventure, arriving just days after joining the SoundPulse roster and opening a new chapter written in visibility, ownership and creative control. Crunch enters this moment with the context of decades behind him, carrying knowledge shaped through proximity to some of the industry’s most important figures and moments.
“Lost for Words” also arrives following an already substantial catalogue that includes four full-length albums and two mixtapes. That body of work reflects an artist who’s consistently developed his sound even while remaining outside the mainstream spotlight. With “Lost for Words,” he serves up a cinematic hip hop outing that flows through an immersive scene of zapping synth shots and smokey female vocal textures as the intricate pulse of percussion builds up the energy.
Developing with the rattle of snapping beats and Crunch’s razor-sharp rapped flows, his slick vocal delivery rolls above the wholly absorbing arrangement to forge an arresting jam brimming with commanding vocals, passages of melodic R&B-tinged vibes and the ever-present punch of drums. Wrapped up in an immersive arrangement and capped by compelling vocal work, “Lost for Words” sees Crunch make an emphatic statement of artistic intent and we can’t wait to see what he’s got in store next.
