Coming out of Brisbane, indie-pop newcomer TIAHN is rapidly making an impact in the Australian music landscape with a sound that feels equal parts playful, sharp and emotionally open. Stacked with sparkly melodies, cheeky lyricism and a big-hearted sense of personality, her music lands with a glitter-soaked energy that’s firmly planted her on the map of must watch artist on the rise. There’s a truly unique sense of character running through everything she creates, a voice that swings between sugar-sweet charm and something more soulfully cutting, often within the same song.
Her breakout single “Dodgeball” introduced that balance in full colour; dressed up as a buoyant indie pop anthem, it quickly earned descriptions as both a “road trip anthem” and a “fun, upbeat bop,” capturing the unpredictable rhythm of youthful determination and everyday chaos. Revolving around an infectious chorus and an instantly memorable rhythm, the track positioned TIAHN as an artist who could turn life’s curveballs into something bright, catchy and oddly comforting. It also became something of a live staple, with audiences loudly demanding it long after the set had ended, a testament to its sticky, high-energy appeal.
On stage, TIAHN’s presence has continued to grow alongside her catalogue, where she’s shared line-ups with The Tullamarines and PUREE, as well as opening for New Zealand soul, funk and pop artist Lou’Ana. Each performance has added another facet to her reputation for glittery grooves, offbeat charm and a magnetic energy that translates easily from recordings to live rooms. It’s a momentum that continues to build, especially as audiences start to recognise her blend of humour, honesty and emotional songwriting.
That same spirit is now fully crystallised on her debut EP titled LiFe iS wEiRd, a pastel-coloured exploration of life in your twenties that embraces contradiction as its central theme. Sugary, sharp and deliberately self-aware, the project moves through heartbreak, rage, love and self-discovery without ever settling into one fixed emotional tone. It reflects the messy overlap of everything happening at once, framed through a lens that feels playful and thoroughly human in equal measure.

From a musical perspective, LiFe iS wEiRd brings together indie pop, R&B textures and bursts of theatrical flair, shaped by TIAHN’s training in Popular Music at the Queensland Conservatorium. The EP is full of stylistic shifts, from synth-heavy production and fuzzy indie edges to sweeping horns, jazz-inflected moments and stripped-back emotional pauses. The opening track “Woman (On My Own Terms)” transforms frustration into a shimmering, synth-driven feminist statement that carries just enough rock grit to feel defiant.
“Dodgeball” returns in recorded form, softening life’s unpredictability into something bright, rhythmic and full of movement, while still carrying that sense of emotional strength that defined its initial impact. One of the new tracks, “This Is Love” introduces a quieter moment, stripping everything back to airy textures and understated production as it captures the calm certainty of a relationship that feels grounded and real while the inclusion of her partner’s backing vocals adds an additional element of intimacy, amplifying the personal nature of the track.
“More” and “Liar” expand the EP’s sonic output into its most theatrical territory, where horns swell, arrangements stretch wider, and TIAHN leans into a more dramatic pop style. “More” explores ambition, comparison and the pressure of desire in what she describes as an “anti-villain anthem,” while “Liar” channels the sting of friendship betrayal into something cathartic and loud, turning emotional frustration into release.
The EP closes with the lead single “Bitch Face,” a final burst of self-aware humour and confidence that ties together TIAHN’s core strengths of relatability, wit and emotional honesty delivered without hesitation. Following the release of LiFe iS wEiRd, TIAHN is set to perform at Brisbane’s Black Bear Lodge on Thursday the 4th of June , bringing her technicoloured indie pop world to life once again. For an artist still at the beginning of her journey, she already feels fully formed in spirit, if not yet in scale and that balance of chaos and charm is exactly what makes her so compelling.
Commenting on the release, TIAHN shares, “For my debut EP I wanted the songs to reflect the journey of how I have become the person I am. As I’m sure most can relate, my 20’s have been a wild ride and have taught me the world isn’t always fair and people aren’t always who they say they are. I found a lot of joy writing in my rage and turning into sass.”
