Based in Grenoble in the south east of France, Gintsugi has been forging a musical world built on the pillars of emotional excavation and atmospheric aesthetic. A singer, producer and multi-instrumentalist working across piano, electronics and guitar, her work takes shape in the fragile space between exposure and cathartic artistic expression, where emotion becomes part of the fabric of the sound itself. In Gintsugi’s sound, emotion and experimentation are intrinsically linked, creating music that feels intimate, cinematic and delicate all at once.
Over the last few years, her artistic output has spilled out beyond the walls of the studio and by performing across France, Italy, Switzerland and Germany, Gintsugi has earned a reputation for crafting immersive musical environments that flicker between art pop, electronic composition and emotional storytelling. Analogue textures wrap around her music like fading memories, while stacked instrumentation gives even her quietest moments a sense of scale and tension underneath. Following the singles “Blind” and “Outside” in 2021, Gintsugi expanded her sonic vision with her self-titled debut EP the following year.
Produced alongside Victor Van Vugt, whose work includes collaborations with Nick Cave and Beth Orton, the project firmly planted Gintsugi on the map of must watch artists on the rise. That progression continued with 2023’s album The Elephant in the Room, revealing an artist increasingly comfortable allowing contradiction to sit at the centre of her music. Now, as she prepares the release of her forthcoming EP Strangers, recorded between France and Italy and scheduled for release this autumn, Gintsugi returns with “Battlefield,” a brand new single single that feels both profoundly personal and subtly confrontational.

Distilling fractured conversations, late-night tension and emotional uncertainty, the track examines the way modern relationships often become tangled in conflict, confusion and inherited expectations about what love is supposed to feel like. At the centre of “Battlefield” lies a deceptively simple question, if love constantly feels painful, volatile or exhausting, is that really passion, or simply conditioning masquerading as romance? Gintsugi lets the question hang uncomfortably throughout the song; relationships drift between intimacy and dissipation, with emotional closeness always shadowed by instability.
Produced by FAV and mastered at Goldmine Records, “Battlefield” surrounds its emotional tension with immersive, cinematic textures that feel equally intricate and enveloping. Brought in by the sweep of muted instrumental tones, the track rolls with the laid back patter of drums as Gintsugi’s emotive voice floats above to spin tender melodies carrying heartfelt lyricism. Soft plucks of guitar and a mesmeric atmosphere combine to form an airy soundscape that glides with mellow groove and catchy melodic leads, resulting in a magical musical moment that’s memorable and meaningful in equal measure.
Dashed with passages of subtly unsettling melodies and alluring vocal performance, “Battlefield” sees Gintsugi make a spectacular return with a stunning art pop outing. As she prepares to release her highly anticipated forthcoming EP, we can’t wait to see what this exciting artist has in store next on her truly compelling musical adventure.
