Coming out of a run-down industrial estate in Chorley, Hauspoints have built something that feels thoroughly tethered to its surroundings. The grit in the band’s identity reflects the everyday textures of northern life, finding something worth holding onto in the ordinary and it’s that perspective that’s struck a chord with listeners, turning a group from Lancashire into one of the more intriguing new names to rise from the UK’s rock sphere in recent years.
The lineup is tight but flexible in its approach; Nik handles bass, synths and backing vocals, Robert brings guitar and additional vocals, Charlie drives things from behind the drums and Palmo fronts the band with vocals and guitar. Together, they’ve forged a rock-focused sound that draws from a wider array of influences that allows their ideas to stretch out in unexpected directions.
Their introduction came in 2023 with the debut double single “Dead Frog Road / Crisis Actor” and just a month later, they expanded that initial statement with the EP Bloody Interference, giving a clearer sense of their range and the themes they were interested in exploring. That momentum carried through into their critically acclaimed debut album Eel Feeling in 2024 which confirmed their status as a must watch act with a compelling vision.

Now, following a break from sharing their sound, they return with new material in the form of a pair of brand new singles, “Pillock Box” and “FFS,” released together on a limited edition 7” lathe-cut vinyl which is available here. These tracks mark a subtle shift in their sound, drawing inspiration from the sample-heavy collages of The Avalanches and the loose, confident swagger associated with Happy Mondays.
“Pillock Box” lands with a groove-heavy energy, jumping straight in with the punch of drums, twanging guitar notes and zappy synth shots as Palmo’s moody vocals roll above. Marching with the steady stomp of the percussion, the track surges with fuzzy guitar tones and belted vocals spinning gripping hooks to form an enthralling jam that’s invigorating, memorable and highly unique all at once. There’s a nod to the Madchester era in its aesthetic and robust delivery, unveiling a new side to the sonic world Hauspoints are building.
On the other side, “FFS” takes a more off-kilter route, taking cues from a mix that includes The Velvet Underground and nursery rhymes to craft a playful art rock outing. Setting the groove with bouncy drums and pulsing bass notes as the swirl of smokey guitar tones and looped vocalisations hints at the song’s leftfield vibes, Palmo’s expressive vocals enter with half sung, half spoken word style. Flickering between lively choruses and mellow verses where surreal lyricism paints abstract scenes, it’s another epic showcase of the band’s original songwriting and engrossing sound.
The music video for “FFS” presents an engaging visual experience that features shots of Palmo singing while half submerged in a bath with green goop all over his face cut with slow motion shots him jumping in different rooms. Off the back of shows with acts like Getdown Services and Pyncher, they’re stepping into a new run of live performances, including appearances at Crackedankles Weekender in Preston and a secret event with DIY Magazine and FifthFloor. With “Pillock Box” and “FFS,” Hauspoints continue go from strength to strength on their thrilling musical adventure and we can’t wait to see what they’ve got in store next.
