Hailing from London, The Sunday Shamans are a psychedelic trio whose story begins in friendship. Featuring the talents of Lucid L, Tambourine Tom and Donnacha the Wizard, the band have known each other since school, carrying years of shared history into a project that’s built on their longstanding creative chemistry. When lockdown brought long stretches of suspended normality, their adventures and jam sessions became the spark that ushered them into the studio.
That creative exploration among old friends has since grown into one of the more characterful presences in the capital’s modern rock sphere. Since first stepping forward, the trio have built momentum through three well-received EPs, using each release to stake their claim as a band capable of taking cues from yesteryear while offering a thoroughly new sound. Their music draws from psychedelic traditions while reanimating them and filtering those classic influences through their modern sonic lens.
Over the last year, the band have immersed themselves in work at The Bookhouse Studios, where they’ve been shaping their upcoming debut full-length record, Together in Past Lives. Their recording philosophy sees the trio favour live takes, minimal overdubs and old-school methods over modern precision, eschewing click tracks to capture a genuine performance feel, resulting in music with both timeless textures and contemporary tone.

Bringing us their first release of 2026, they share their new single titled “Where You Begin,” an epic rock outing brimming with melodic appeal and alternative aesthetic. It subtly carries the colour and brightness of classic psychedelic rock while still sounding forward-thinking while channelling some of the same melodic confidence associated with late-60s guitar pop and blues rock experimentation. Thematically, “Where You Begin” explores retrospection within relationships, considering how people often only recognise what someone gave them after distance has arrived.
Jumping straight into a loose groove, the steady rustle of drums, warm bass and intricate twangs of guitar usher in expressive vocal leads, forming an engaging rock scene that’s moody but with enough sparkle in the arrangement to add colour to the track. Rolling with the steady patter of drums, atmospheric lead guitar dances in the background as the track swells into an arresting chorus where punchy rhythms and instantly memorable hooks collide.
Flowing through a hazy instrumental finale where mesmeric lead guitar notes stretch out, the band injects subtle psych vibes to leave a lasting impression of the song. Paired with the single, the music video directed by Tony Hunter, follows a skateboarder gliding through a city cut with shots of the band performing the track, offering a stellar visual accompaniment for the music. With London performances planned throughout 2026 and a debut album on the horizon, the trio are set for their most exciting chapter thus far and with every turn of the page, we can’t wait to see what comes next in their highly compelling story.
