Born between cultures and influenced by multiple artistic disciplines, Salwa has the perspective of someone who’s spent years observing the world from several angles at once. Raised in Beirut before training at London’s Drama Centre, the Lebanese-Palestinian and Scottish artist has walked a creative path that stretches across acting, modelling, filmmaking, poetry and songwriting.
Despite the breadth of her output, music remains the place where everything forms most clearly; it’s where identity, memory, politics and emotion coalesce into something truly spectacular. Since unveiling her sound with her debut single “Oh! Lover” in 2021, followed by “Fuck Boy” and her debut album Late at Night, which landed in 2023, Salwa has developed a sound unlike any other. Electronic pop is peppered by disco grooves, prog rock textures and flashes of jazz, all filtered through songwriting that reflects the chaos and contradictions of modern urban life.
Her work often explores mental health, identity and belonging, drawing from her experiences as a bipolar woman living life in London while carrying the context and diversity of multiple cultural backgrounds. That tension between worlds feels especially vivid on her latest release titled “GOAT,” a track that takes her artistic vision into darker and more ambitious spheres. Atmospheric and deeply conceptual, the single reimagines the ancient scapegoat tale through a modern lens, threading together mythology, generational trauma and political commentary with a sense of personal contemplation.

On “GOAT,” Salwa frames those heavy ideas within a sound that moves through moody electronic pop while folding in Middle Eastern percussion and underground regional influences, creating something that feels equally cutting edge and transportive. Collaborating with darbuka player Sass Khoury, she shapes the track into a dark electronic dance pop anthem that shakes with tension, grooving rhythm and catchy hooks. The song itself was penned before October 2023 and was inspired by extensive research into scapegoat psychology and symbolism, examining how blame, shame and inherited trauma move through families, societies and political systems.
Set up by the pulse of deep synth bass tones and patter of intricate percussive shots as Salwa’s restrained vocal delivery injects brooding melodic leads into the minimalist sonic fabric. Developing with woozy synth textures, hypnotic rhythm and memorable melodic lines, the punch of the beat ushers in a danceable energy that rolls with colourful synth zaps and jittery percussive elements, forming an engaging jam that’s infectious and thematically profound.
The dark electronic production, stacked percussion and immersive textures give the song a mesmerising quality, pulling listeners into its world that’s designed to be felt as much as interpreted. With “GOAT,” Salwa continues building a catalogue that feels fiercely individual, blending cinematic vision, cultural reflection and emotionally charged songwriting into an incredible display of artistic expression. As she continues to impress with each move, we can’t wait to see what this visionary artist has in store next on her unique creative voyage.
