Based in Belgrade, Aleksandra Kovač is an award-winning composer, producer, songwriter and recording artist who flows between the worlds of popular music and screen composition. Over the years, she’s built a decorated career defined by versatility, creativity and a deep understanding of musical storytelling. With an academic background that includes a BA in Music Education from the University of Belgrade and an MSc in Composition for Screen from the University of Edinburgh, Aleksandra has spent decades crafting a body of work that reaches across film, television and contemporary music.
Her journey has been marked by a series of notable milestones; as a recording artist, she became the first Serbian performer to win an MTV Europe Music Award, while her work as a composer has earned recognition on an international stage, including a BAFTA Scotland New Talent Award nomination in 2015. This year, her standing within the screen composition community was further reinforced when she was selected as one of only 20 international composers invited to participate in the prestigious CANNESERIES Composers Club.
While many artists choose a single creative lane, Aleksandra has consistently explored multiple disciplines at once. Alongside a successful songwriting career that saw her become one of the leading songwriters in Southeast Europe, she established herself as an acclaimed composer for television, film, theatre and advertising. Her work has been heard across some of the region’s most successful productions, demonstrating an incredible ability to adapt her musical language to different settings and emotional landscapes.
A significant chapter in that story began in 2000 when Aleksandra linked up with music producer and supervisor Roman Goršek to establish RAproduction. The company specialises in composing for film and new media, music supervision, production, songwriting, talent development, marketing and vocal coaching. The partnership would become a defining creative relationship, with the duo collaborating on a wide range of projects that have helped shape the sound of contemporary screen productions throughout the region.

Now, Aleksandra and Roman are offering listeners a different way to experience that creative legacy through the release of Cinematic Collection Vol. 1. The release gathers together some of their most memorable opening title themes and end-credit compositions from film and television projects created over the past decade, resulting in an album that stands independently from the productions that originally inspired the music. Each composition was first written to serve a specific context on screen, yet together they create a complete listening experience that moves through a wide spectrum of moods and emotions.
Opened by “Burden of Legacy,” the album starts off with the jittery flicker of instrumental notes as ominous string stabs add to the brooding atmosphere. Expanding with sweeping string lines, rumbling bass energy and immersive arrangement, it’s a stunning display of the pair’s engrossing compositional flair. “Humming Bird” brings a dark, lullaby-esque sound where chiming tones are met by the twang of guitar and steady march of percussion, taking listeners on a moody, jazz-tinged sonic voyage that’s mesmeric, haunting and wholly absorbing throughout.
“Primal Scream” flows with airy piano notes and bubbling synth textures, gently gathering energy as pattering drums and intricate instrumental flashes cast a spellbinding listening experience. Other highlights on the record include tracks like “Melting Pot” which leans into a hypnotic sound of tribal rhythms, transportive instrumentation and expressive vocalisations to present a gripping soundscape unlike any other.
“Music Box” showcases their classical stylings with an elegant piece of delicate piano plinks and graceful strings while “Fading Brothers” crafts a dreamy atmosphere of soft piano notes and stretched instrumental textures which blooms with dazzling strings to form a magical musical moment that’s impossible not to love. Closing the album with “Yellow Star,” the melancholic sweep of strings softly layers up with overlapping melodies and choral vocal elements to deliver a spectacular finale to this magnificent new release from Aleksandra Kovac and Roman Goršek.
