Manchester-based newcomer Cayhan belongs to a growing wave of independent musicians proving that creative vision can matter far more than expensive studios or industry formulas. Working entirely on his own across production, songwriting and recording, he’s built an artistic identity driven by complete creative freedom. Every release reflects an autonomous ethos that favours his uncompromising expression over perfection, embracing honesty, emotion and individuality ahead of outside approval.
That context sits at the centre of everything Cayhan creates and with inspiration from the late Lil Peep, he follows his own creative compass wherever an idea leads. He makes the songs that feel true to him, guided by a simple belief of living authentically, ignoring criticism and striving to move forward. It’s an outlook that gives his music a directness which feels profoundly personal, allowing imperfections to become part of the emotional character and his lyrics to hit with even more impact.
Recording in his parents’ house and often freestyling vocals in only a handful of takes, Cayhan captures ideas while they remain spontaneous, preserving the energy and spark that first inspired the song. First making his artistic entrance in March, he unveiled his highly original sonic vision with the debut single “Crazy for Your Love,” which was quickly followed up by the sophomore single “Thank you” before Cayhan’s debut full-length record, Journey to Love landed last month.

His latest single titled “World is Mine” serves as the first window into his second album, Shadows After Dark, an eerie gothic emo rap project that expands upon the ideas beginning to define his sound. “World is Mine” captures the qualities that make Cayhan’s music feel so unique; revolving around dark atmosphere and emotionally charged performance, the single balances isolation with determination through its recurring mantra, “The world is asleep so the world is mine.” That simple phrase becomes the emotional centre of the track, reflecting both solitude and empowerment while hinting at the themes that run throughout the new album.
Freestyled and recorded within a single hour across only a few takes, the track allows the emotion behind the performance to remain intact throughout. Brought in by the moody blend of plucked guitar notes and murky vocalisations sets up a dark scene that develops with the punch of crisp percussion as Cayhan’s vocals roll with razor sharp rapped flow. Capturing a brooding emo rap vibe, the track progresses with memorable hooks as the pulse of bass, twang of guitar and rattle of drums combine to form an engrossing listening experience.
Having built his music from the ground up within the intimate surroundings of his family home, he now stands on the edge of a new chapter as he prepares to bring these songs beyond the bedroom and onto the stage. That progression feels like a natural continuation of an artist whose confidence continues to grow with every release and with “World is Mine,” Cayhan once again showcases his performance talent and compelling musical output.
