Cristina Pavone, better known as Criwolf, has built an artistic world around the spaces where emotion, atmosphere and transformation meet. From her beginnings on the streets of Dublin to her creative home in Italy, she’s developed a sound that feels equally intimate and cinematic, balancing gothic textures with accessible pop melodies while placing storytelling at the heart of everything she creates. Darkness from beauty go hand in hand, with Criwolf allowing the two to coexist, creating songs that explore personal reflections through immersive soundscapes and powerful lyricism.
Her musical journey began far away from the recording studio and before releasing original material, Criwolf immersed herself in spontaneous pub performances and late-night jam sessions along Dublin’s Grafton Street. Those experiences informed her understanding of music as something shared rather than simply performed and while surrounded by strangers brought together through song, she discovered the emotional connection that would later become the pillar of her own artistic vision.
Although her music often explores contemplative themes, her songwriting invites listeners into highly personal experiences that connect on a wider level via a balance between emotion and accessibility. Criwolf formally introduced her artistic voice in 2023 with the debut single “The Journey,” instantly revealing a natural ability to combine cinematic production with thoughtful lyrical writing through a sound that felt expansive while remaining emotionally compelling. Since then, every release has unveiled another facet of her creative identity, gradually building a body of work shaped by personal discovery and artistic exploration.
Her music has reached audiences well beyond Italy, earning performances alongside radio and television airplay as her distinctive approach continues to find listeners drawn to its emotional sincerity and atmospheric production. With each release, Criwolf has strengthened a musical output that feels increasingly confident while retaining the sense of intimacy that first defined her work.

Now she brings us her latest release with the new single itled “Hecate,” which takes those qualities even further. Revolving around modern dark pop sound infused with gothic influences, the track offers one of her most personal and thematically profound releases thus far. Drawing on mythology, Criwolf centres the song around the symbolic figure of Hecate, treating the goddess as an archetype that represents transformation, uncertainty and personal growth. Within the song, Hecate becomes a companion through life’s most difficult transitions, standing alongside people as they face darkness themselves, illuminating the path without removing the challenge.
It’s a concept based in the relatable experience of crossing emotional thresholds, those moments when one chapter closes before another has fully begun. Produced by Trinacria Label, “Hecate” atmospheric sound design, haunting melodies and gothic influences all serve the song’s central message, amplifying Criwolf’s talent for creating music that’s as visually gripping as it is sonically engaging. Following the initial writing process, Criwolf shared the song with guitarist and collaborator Emilio Trafeli, whose arrangement helped expand the track into the bold and utterly engrossing outing it ultimately became.
From the brooding pulse of bass synth and flicker of delicate lead notes, the rattle of drums ushers in a driving rock-driven energy, resulting in an anthemic soundscape capped by commanding vocal performance. Rising to an epic chorus brimming with impassioned vocal leads and enveloping arrangement, “Hecate” serves up an arresting listening experience that’s invigorating, transportive and highly affecting from start to finish. The cinematic quality of the music extends beyond the recording itself, with the accompanying official music video, directed by Andrea Camassa, completing the wider artistic vision surrounding the release, expanding the emotional and visual world that the song inhabits.
