Based in Jersey City, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Kevin Honold has creared his sound around movement, emotion and the spaces between everyday moments. A guitarist and saxophone player with a background in formal musical training, Kevin creates indie rock that brings together cinematic arrangements, full-band energy and his own ‘Rhythmic Rock’ style. His relationship with music first began in New Jersey, where he developed his talents on tenor saxophone through wind ensemble, marching band and high school pit ensembles.
That iniatial connection to arrangement and performance eventually expanded into guitar, songwriting and music theory during college. It was at the University of Vermont where he formed creative partnerships with bassist Luke Fox and drummer Trevor Michalak, sparking a collaborative style that remains central to his approach. His songs ultimately capture experiences through carefully arranged pieces where each instrument adds to the emotional arc of the music’s context.
Taking cues from the likes of Bruce Springsteen, The Killers, and The War on Drugs, his sound remains driven by his own blend of storytelling and organic instrumentation. His writing focuses on the things that quietly shape people, from life changes, relationships and perseverance to the determination to keep moving forward. After introducing his sound through a series of releases in 2023, Kevin fully crystallised his vision with his debut album The Forge, released in June last year. The record mapped out his cinematic, full-band style and showcased his knack fopr creating songs that build gradually before reaching moments of release.

Now, his latbrand newest single titled “Saturday Night” continues that journey with a song that thematically frames ideas of anticipation, connection and the brief moments when people can step away from routine. Written during a Saturday evening session with his wife, Tina, the track captures the feeling of preparing to go out, the excitement, the possibility and the sense that something memorable could happen. “Saturday Night” focuses on the feeling behind a night out, exploring the relatable shift when the weight of the week dissolves and people reconnect with themselves and each other.
Opened by the soft plucks of acoustic guitar as the quiet taps of percussion sets a laid back rhythm, Kevin’s delicate vocals enter with gentle string lines to cast an intimate soundscape brimming with tender performance and picture painting lyricism. Gathering pace with shuffling drums, pulsing bass notes and stunning vocal harmonies as sax notes add colour to the arrangement, the song swells with buoyant tones to form a dazzling musical moment.
Flowing with pattering percussion and capped by charming vocal work, the song surges with pop rock energy as slick guitar work and bright brass pips combine with punching drums to serve up an energising crescendo before floating back down to a soothing finale. Having recently returned to New Jersey after writing his recent song “Everything” while living in Seattle, Hevin Honold is now preparing a Jersey City-based live lineup to bring his expansive sound to the stage. As he continues to impress with his timeless and truly delightful musical output, he’s sure to win over more and more listeners around the world with his compelling artistic vision.
