Coming out of Finland’s pop music sphere but now stepping into a far more personal creative space, Lotta Svart is entering a new chapter where intimacy, atmosphere and artistic autonomy feed into her own original sound. Previously known through the early-2000s pop group I’DeeS and its hit single “Time,” as well as the soul pop project Tears Apart, Lotta has gradually moved away from familiar areas in favour of something altogether more immersive.
As a singer-songwriter and producer, her current solo work forms in the overlap between dream pop, atmospheric electronic pop and poetic songwriting, creating a sound world she describes as melodic electropoetry. Lotta’s music is built around mood, texture and emotional nuance, where pulsing rhythms meet ethereal vocal layers and highly personal lyrics become part of a wider cinematic landscape. It’s music that feels suspended somewhere between reality and dream, balancing rhythmic momentum with an arresting sense of stillness.
That artistic direction first began to reveal itself with her 2023 solo debut single “Finn fem fel” and since then, Lotta has continued developing a sound that prioritises emotional honesty and atmosphere in equal measure. Released in Swedish, her songs explore closeness, fragility, light and human connection, creating a body of work that feels at once intimate and widely relatable for listeners around the world. Now, following a hiatus from sharing her solo sound, she returns with “Magi,” the latest step in that blooming vision and the first release from an upcoming four-track EP.

The single serves as a compelling introduction to the world Lotta is currently building, offering listeners a window into the delicate balance that shapes her approach to melodic electropoetry. “Magi” is a song about comfort and presence, capturing a brief moment of safety and closeness shared with another person, a point where external distractions seem to dissolve and time itself appears to soften. That context of emotional suspension is reflected throughout the production, where organic textures glide through cinematic electronic elements, creating an atmosphere that feels equally dreamlike and immersive.
Opened by the stuttered patter of drums and soft instrumental textures as airy vocalisations drift above, the beat drops out to leave space for bright plucked tones and Lotta’s dreamy vocals to swirl together in a balletic dance. Flowing with laid back rhythms and layers of elegant vocals wrapped in a transportive arrangement, the song pairs blissful melodic writing, lilting rhythmic sway and alluring instrumentation to cast a mesmeric musical moment that’s memorable, engrossing and thoroughly original all at once.
Gliding through the intricate rise and fall of the song’s shifting energy, the finale brings sweeping vocal elements before closing with Lotta’s soothing voice. Written and composed entirely by Lotta herself, “Magi” arrives as part of a solo era created fully on her own terms, reflecting a stronger link to her artistic expression and personal vision. With her upcoming solo EP on the horizon, we can’t wait to see what this talented singer-songwriter has in store for the rest of 2026 and beyond.
