For more than two decades, Mike Stocksdale has been building a catalogue brimming with storytelling, emotional honesty and a profound respect for enduring songwriting. Armed with a guitar and a knack for translating complicated feelings into vivid, relatable musical moments, Mike has marked himself as an artist whose music connects through both melody and meaning. Through intricate fingerpicked passages and compelling guitar riffs to carefully observed lyrics, his work consistently places thoughtful reflection at the centre of everything he creates.
The origins of that journey were laid remarkably early; at the age of fifteen, Mike picked up a guitar for the first time and almost immediately began writing songs after learning only a handful of chords. It was a creative impulse that quickly became a defining part of his identity where music was all about expression, storytelling and finding ways to communicate emotions that might otherwise remain difficult to share.
His first significant chapter came as lead guitarist and songwriter for the Midwest band Three Minute Mile, an experience which provided an important outlet for his developing talents, allowing him to forge both his musicianship and songwriting voice. Yet it was through his solo work that Mike ultimately discovered his true artistic calling, stepping into a space where his personal perspective and songwriting talents could shine.
Sharing his solo sonic vision for over two decades, he unveiled his sound with the debut record Searching For September and over the years since, he’s delivered an expansive discography across multiple singles, EPs, full-length LPs and live recordings while clocking over twenty million spins on Spotify alone. His songs are driven by genuine feeling, often finding power in subtle details and emotional nuance with a literary quality to his writing and a gift for filtering personal observations into stories that feel engaging.

Now, Mike Stocksdale returns with Connectors, a brand new record that take his creative vision into new sphere while remaining tethered to the songwriting values that have guided his career all these years. Recorded live at Station House Studios in Echo Park alongside a close-knit trio, from there, thoughtful overdubs and carefully layered production expanded the sound. Opened by “Nothing Like Beginning,” the steady stomp of percussive shots and lively vocalisations are met by strummed chords to form a charming folk scene as bright harmonica rings out above and Mike’s warm vocals spin delicate melodies carrying poignant lyricism.
“Elevator” leans into a more rock-focused sound that flows with uptempo groove, lightly gritty guitar rhythms and intricate leads which flicker alongside Mike’s catchy vocal leads, crafting a stunning jam that’s memorable and energising from start to finish. “Wolf Blues” jumps into a bouncy blues scene packed full of slick guitar work and danceable rhythms capped by infectious hooks to serve up an epic jam of timeless rock n’ roll music that puts Mike’s songwriting flair and musicianship panache on full display.
With songs like “Tabs,” he lays down a shimmering sound cut with pop-focused melodic writing, heartfelt lyrics and invigorating indie rock instrumentation. Other highlights on the record include songs like “Best of Luck” with its mellow rhythmic sway, sweeping vocalisations and dynamic sense of ebb and flow forming with dusty blues rock outing. “Probabilities” rolls with the laid back groove of skanked guitar rhythms, steady drums and processed vocals, capturing a deft balance between compelling songwriting and dreamy aesthetic. “Loretta” pairs breezy acoustic guitar tones and elegant vocal performance carrying picture painting lyrics to frame Mike’s alluring songwriting in a stripped back setting.
“Still a Chance at Anything” glides with graceful piano backing and moving vocals to deliver a stunning slice of classic songwriting that’s truly impossible not to love. Closing the album with “Three Times in the Pilot,” Mike leans back into his indie folk sound with gently plucked guitar notes and intimate vocal delivery to offer a delightful final moment on his incredible new record. With Connectors, Mike Stocksdale continues to show why songwriting remains at the heart of everything he does with a release that stands as another chapter in a decorated career of honest storytelling and meaningful connection.
