Stratafield is the artistic banner and creative world of Atlanta-based musician Peter Lewman, an artist whose music is formed as much through curiosity as composition. A seasoned college radio DJ with an appreciation for jazz, electronica and alternative rock, Peter has spent years exploring adventurous sounds through his work creating the Beatscape Lounge on WRAS. That broad musical perspective now feeds directly into Stratafield, a project where acoustic songwriting, electronic production and cinematic imagination coalesce in fascinating ways.
At the centre of it all sits a treasured 1957 Gibson acoustic guitar, an instrument that continues to provide the bedrock for music that consistently looks towards unexplored areas of the musical map. The project first appeared in 2020 with the debut album Noodles in Purgatory, unveiling a creative identity that channelled both experimentation and atmosphere in equal measure. Those ideas expanded even further through an ongoing collaboration with Christian Poole, who contributes keyboards and engineering from Meta Music Studios, helping shape a sonic world where acoustic textures and electronic elements naturally intertwine.
The partnership reached an exciting new stage with 2024’s Sympathetic Waveforms, a sophomore album which brought together acoustic-electronica, folktronica and cinematic influences. Each composition seemed to progress according to its own internal logic, guided by what Peter describes as the Stratafield muse, resulting in music that feels organic despite its complexity, creating immersive listening experiences that play out gradually.

That knack for imaginative storytelling now reaches another level with the new single titled “Qubits,” a release that places visual storytelling and musical composition on equal footing. Stratafield conceived both elements together from the very start, allowing each to shape the other into a unified artistic statement. Revolving around progressive house music, “Qubits” begins inside an extraordinary vision of a superconducting quantum computer rendered in shimmering gold and within this futuristic environment, three active qubits become the architects of entirely new life forms, constructing intricate honeycombs that function as a metaphor for evolution itself.
The journey continually transforms, carrying listeners and viewers through increasingly complex stages before ultimately arriving inside the eye of a mudskipper, where a spaceship quietly travels towards another galaxy. The imagery may sound surreal, but it serves a carefully considered purpose that reimagines qubits as symbolic seeds of creation. Each one generates fresh possibilities, allowing life to form, multiply and continually evolve. With gliding synth textures and the every-present rustle of percussion, the track flows with moments of sweeping energy before bursts of pattering drums and flickering synth pips engage in a lively dance to deliver a playful soundscape packed full of staccato instrumental elements.
The mudskipper becomes another powerful symbol within the visual scene, representing an evolutionary bridge capable of breathing both air and water before pointing life towards entirely new frontiers beyond Earth itself. Underlying the visual metaphor is a genuine admiration for quantum computing and the remarkable scientific breakthroughs it represents, with the video paying tribute to these extraordinary machines, celebrating their ability to harness the strange and often counterintuitive laws of quantum physics.
“Qubits” also serves as an introduction to Stratafield’s forthcoming concept album Quantum Level, a record where every track draws inspiration from ideas rooted in quantum mechanics. That larger framework suggests the single is only one chapter within a much broader exploration, bringing listeners into a world where music, imagination and scientific wonder continually inform one another. With “Qubits” opening the door to Quantum Level, Stratafield continues to build new spheres within his engrossing creative world and we can’t wait to see what he’s got in store next.
