In the south of France, Satanic Sex Cult rises from a backstory that’s already wrapped in underground mythology. Formed in 2024 by musicians who’d previously spent years playing and touring together in Illegal Process, the project was forged from a reunion that followed a long absence. They’re not attempting to recreate the past though, the group used that shared history as a springboard for something looser, stranger and completely unrestricted in form. Punk rock remains the pillar of the band’s identity, but the surrounding edges are deliberately left open, allowing every influence, obsession and provocation to bleed into the music.
Both musically and lyrically, the band eschews strict stylistic labels, drawing inspiration from an unusually wide spectrum of sources. Influences stretch from The Damned and The Dead Boys to Aleister Crowley, the Marquis de Sade, Emil Cioran and Darkthrone, all filtered through lyrics delivered in French, resulting in a collision of ideas, aesthetics and attitudes held together by punk’s steadfast mission of confrontation. The band’s fiercely independent approach goes beyond its songwriting as after only a few months of rehearsals, Satanic Sex Cult recorded its first EP entirely on its own before handing the finished material to Jim Diamond for mixing and mastering.
Jim, whose previous credits include work with The White Stripes, The BellRays and The Detroit Cobras, helped sculpt the final sound while the band maintained complete control over the recording process itself and that initial EP was released as an ultra-limited run of just 50 cassette copies available exclusively at live shows. Now the group begins opening its world to a wider audience through a different strategy; while continuing to record its first full-length album, Satanic Sex Cult is releasing a new track from the project every two months, gradually revealing the world of the record piece by piece.

The first taste arrives in the form of “Tout Doit Brûler,” the band’s debut single and an explosive introduction to everything Satanic Sex Cult represents. Translating to “Everything Must Burn,” the title nods to the intensity at the heart of the project and the track holds nothing back in its scorched-earth energy. The wailing buzz of guitar feedback sets up the track as the jittery pulse of lively bass guitar and strike of drums injects an instant energy before the track erupts with charging guitar chords and driving rhythms to form a gripping slice of high tempo punk rock music.
Capped by belted vocals delivering commanding lines above, the track rolls into an anthemic chorus where infectious hooks ring out above the exhilarating arrangement, serving up a raucous sonic rollercoaster that’s blistering and utterly thrilling throughout. Dashed with warbling lead guitar textures which add jolts of enthralling instrumental energy, “Tout Doit Brûler” progresses which entirely consuming aesthetic while a wild guitar solo keeps the power levels charged up. As the track slows after the final chorus, just when you think they’re done, they hit you with a punching half-time, riff-driven moment where a stunning sax solo glides in to take the track on a sensational and thoroughly unexpected detour in its closing passage.
Presented in impactful production, “Tout Doit Brûler” sees Satanic Sex Cult lay down an emphatic statement of artistic intent brimming with pure sonic energy, memorable songwriting and performance panache. The release has already begun attracting attention beyond the band’s local scene, receiving airplay from KEXP, Amazing Radio and other stations, suggesting that the group’s uncompromising approach is striking a chord beyond the rehearsal rooms and live venues where the project first took shape. As they continue to share more of their sound and with their upcoming debut full-length record on the horizon, Satanic Sex Cult are set to make a significant impression on the modern rock music scene.
