Greg Germain is a Surinamese-Dutch artist whose return to music carries the context of experience, emotional recalibration and a new sense of creative understanding. Gliding into a new artistic chapter after a period of personal retreat, his sound blends dreamy synth pop, R&B, dance pop influences and soft electronic textures into a musical output that’s atmospheric and emotionally compelling. Greg serves up music influenced just as much by reflection as by movement, built around the brief moments that continue to leave a mark long after they pass.
Music has become a way of translating memory into something tactile for Greg and his songs often flicker between states, capturing the emotional in-between spaces where thought and feeling coalesce. Warm synth layers drift through his sound, while intimate storytelling frames the sound in a real human setting, resulting a sonic world that feels nostalgic, always looking back while continuing to move forward.
That perspective is shaped in part by a highly personal chapter in his life after losing a close friend which saw Greg step away from music for three years, leaving behind his creative practice as he faced grief and personal contemplation. When he eventually returned, it was not merely as a continuation of his previous work, but as a reimagined artist with a clearer vision. In May, Greg Germain formally reintroduced himself with his debut single “Cloud Highways,” a release that opened a window into the sonic sphere he’s been carefully shaping.

Now he returns with his sophomore outing titled “Rock With Me,” a dreamy nu-disco jam cut with summer pop vibes inspired by a real moment during the 2018 heatwave. Revolving around warm retro synths, smooth grooves and nostalgic storytelling, the song distils the emotional intensity of a sun-drenched beach day where something unexpectedly profound begins to take shape. Penned during the same creative period as “Cloud Highways,” it reflects a continuity in Greg’s artistic process while exploring a more intimate emotional memory.
The origins of “Rock With Me” lie in a day marked by physical exhaustion and quiet observation where after going for a run in the morning, Greg met a close friend at the beach during the height of the heatwave. Tired and still recovering from the run, he found himself noticing small details with heightened understanding from the sunlight and the movement of the sea breeze to the ease of simply being present in the moment. In that stillness, he realised he was falling in love. A friend observing them together caught the connection before either of them fully acknowledged it and not long after, the two would become a couple.
Jumping into a bouncy groove of pulsing bass, snapping beats and bright vocalisations dashed with funky guitar touches, the track slips into a mellow disco pop scene where hushed vocals roll over the infectious rhythmic arrangement. Floating with dazzling melodic hooks carried via subtly breathy delivery, the track expands with slick synth flashes and energising guitar chords to form a danceable soundscape that’s instantly catchy and invigorating from start to finish.
With picture painting lyrics wrapped up in a colourful blend of sweeping instrumentation and propelled by the ever-present punch of crisp percussion, “Rock With Me” sees Greg Germain lay down an intoxicating musical moment that’s sure to soundtrack the summer for countless listeners around the world. Through both “Cloud Highways” and “Rock With Me,” Greg Germain continues to shine as a must watch artist on the rise and we can’t wait to see what else he’s got in store on what’s sure to be his breakout year.
