Independent artist Leon Prince makes modern R&B with the mindset of a storyteller as well as a songwriter. Working independently while channelling an international outlook, he creates music that blends contemporary R&B, pop and classic soul into emotionally compelling scenes inspired by real experiences. Leon has begun constructing a connected artistic world where every song contributes to a larger emotional voyage, pairing slick production with cinematic visuals and heartfelt performances that invite listeners to experience every twist alongside him.
At the centre of his creative vision sits True Stories, his debut project and the framework of an ongoing tale that explores the many stages of human connection. Love, attraction, heartbreak, trust and redemption all become recurring themes, with Leon building interconnected chapters that mirror the unpredictability of real relationships. Every release stands comfortably on its own, but each also expands the wider story arc, encouraging listeners to follow the emotional thread from one chapter to the next.
That style of long-form storytelling immediately highlights Leon Prince within today’s R&B landscape and while many artists focus on individual singles, his approach feels closer to episodic cinema, where characters, emotions and consequences continue to play out across multiple releases. Distributed through Bayerische Media, True Stories combines contemporary Adult R&B, soul and pop influences with a strong visual identity, creating an immersive experience that extends beyond the music itself.

Prince first opened that world in April with debut single “It Should’ve Been Me” and now the story continues with his second single, “Sexy Cami Set,” a release that expands the emotional complexity of the True Stories sphere. Eschewing presenting romance through idealised fantasy, the song follows a man convinced he’s found the beginning of a meaningful relationship, only to discover that the woman he’s fallen for has been involved with someone else. That revelation shifts the context away from what’s expected and towards disappointment, forcing both the central character and the listener to confront the emotional consequences of misplaced trust.
Opened by the shimmer of twinkling instrumental tones and the flicker of bright guitar flutters, the snap of drums forms a steady groove as Leon’s smooth vocal leads glide in. Spinning instantly catchy melodies carrying picture painting lyricism above the crisp punch of drums and intricate dance of guitar notes, “Sexy Cami Set” serves up an infectious slice of R&B-inflected soul pop music that’s memorable, danceable and original all at once. Rolling with stunning instrumental work, alluring vocal performance and energising rhythms, it’s a superb jam that’s sure to win over listeners all over the world.
Putting his stellar songwriting talent and performance flair on full display, “Sexy Cami Set” sees Leon Prince deliver an enticing musical moment that’s impossible not to love. As he goes from strength to strength with the roll out of the True Stories project, Leon is set to make a significant impact in the modern R&B scene on what’s sure to be his breakout year as a must watch artist on the rise.
We caught up with Leon Prince to find out more about his musical journey so far, his new single “Sexy Cami Set” and what he’s got lined up for the future. Check out our interview with Leon Prince below.

Hey Leon, how are things?
Things are going well, thank you. Creatively, itās been an exciting time, especially seeing the music resonate with people as they experience āSexy Cami Set.ā Iām enjoying the process and looking forward to whatās next.
Whatās your earliest memory of making music?
My earliest memories of making music? Well, itās not what I would call music today (laugh), but it was playing with a relativeās drum set and making up random songs with no real meaning. For organized music, it was probably elementary school chorus (smiles). Iāve always been fascinated by how music tells a story and affects oneās mood. That fascination grew into a desire to create stories and experiences of my own.
Which artists do you draw most inspiration from?
I draw inspiration from artists who have a strong identity and know how to tell a story. There are so many great artists who have inspired me over the years, so Iāll keep it short: Babyface, Sade, Michael Jackson, El DeBarge, Lauryn Hill, Amel Larrieux, and of course Prince, as well as other artists across R&B and pop. Iām especially drawn to artists who combine genres, experiment, and create music that feels cinematic. Iām inspired more by individuality than by whatever sound happens to be trending.
How else do you find inspiration for your music?
I find inspiration from whatās going on around me: life, relationships, conversations, and opportunities. Almost anything can become a song. Iām particularly interested in situations where people recognize a piece of their own lives in the story.
What would you say is the perfect setting for listeners to enjoy your sound?
I enjoy listening to music in the car, on my motorcycle, at the gym, or with headphones at night. Ultimately, I want people to enjoy my music wherever they feel most comfortable and most connected to it, whether thatās alone, with someone special, or simply somewhere they can get lost in the story.
How has your own style and sound evolved since you started out?
Iāve become much more confident in my musical expression, allowing the music to flow rather than forcing it into any particular box or genre. Earlier, I probably thought more about fitting songs into categories. Now, Iām more interested in combining R&B, pop, storytelling, and cinematic elements to create something that feels distinctly Leon Prince.
Who would be your dream artist to collaborate with?
Thatās difficult because there are so many incredible artists. Babyface would be fascinating for his songwriting, musicianship, versatility, and understanding of different eras. Sade, the band and the singer, would also be incredible. The creative possibilities would be amazing.

How did you find making your new single āSexy Cami Setā?
It was a lot of fun because the song has a lot of personality. Itās playful, flirtatious, and doesnāt take itself too seriously. The biggest challenge was making sure the production, lyrics, and visuals all felt like parts of the same story.
What message did you want to get across with this release?
āSexy Cami Setā is about attraction, confidence, disappointment, and resilience. Almost everyone has experienced disappointment in a relationship, but thereās often a bright side. I wanted people to have fun with it; not every song needs a heavy message.
What artist have you been listening to most recently?
I listen to a wide range of music, and it changes constantly. Recently, Iāve been listening to Corinne Bailey Rae, Tems, and Tyla, as well as other R&B, pop, and international artists. I find it interesting to hear how artists from different places approach melody, rhythm, and storytelling.
Whatās the main thing you want people to get out of listening to your music?
I want it to resonate with them in some way, and hopefully they remember the story. If someone hears one of my songs and it reminds them of a person, a relationship, a mistake, or a particular moment in their life, then the music has done what I wanted it to do.
Whatās been your favorite live performance so far?
The live performance chapter is still ahead of me. Right now, the focus has been on developing the music, visuals, and audience. Performing live is one of the areas Iām looking forward to exploring as the project continues to grow.
Who would be 3 artists to headline your dream festival? And where would it be?
Bruno Mars, Babyface, and Sade. Iād put it somewhere unexpected and beautiful, maybe Rio de Janeiro. The music, the city, the coastline, and an international audience would make it incredible.
Do you have any advice for a new artist wanting to follow your footsteps?
Take your time, use your experiences, persevere, and learn to express yourself. You can spend forever trying to make something perfect, but eventually you have to release it and let people experience it. Also, donāt wait for someone else to give you permission to create. Independent artists today have extraordinary opportunities if youāre willing to learn and do the work.
Finally, what do you have lined up next?
Thereās quite a bit happening. Iām continuing to release new music and expand the current project. Upcoming releases will explore different sides of relationships, attraction, heartbreak, and second chances. The next release, āThe Standard,ā will arrive by the end of July 2026. Weāre also continuing to develop the visual side of the project and introduce the music to audiences internationally. In short, āSexy Cami Setā is just the beginning.
