Growing up in regional Australia, Kwasi discovered early that creativity could become a place of belonging and while his surroundings informed his perspective, it was the worlds of skateboarding, film and music culture that truly fuelled his imagination. Those influences continue to echo in his work today, feeding into a sound that blends alternative hip hop, punk and indie with cinematic production and uncompromising storytelling. Kwasi shines in the spaces between genres, creating music that feels adventurous, rebellious and fiercely original.
Over the last decade, each move has expanded his creative world while building his identity as an artist driven by experimentation. His breakthrough came with 2018’s “Aura Glow,” featuring Allday and Gracelands, which earned widespread streaming support across Spotify and Apple Music and introduced listeners to his knack for balancing melodic accessibility with emotional impact. The years that followed revealed an artist constantly developing and in 2022, “Self Sabotage,” created with Congrats and produced by Hamley, injected thrash-inspired intensity into his sound.
As interest in his music grew, so did the scale of his performances, with international appearances across London, Brighton, Manila and Cebu while support from broadcasters including Y101FM and Magic Manila strengthened his growing international profile. In 2024, he maintained that momentum with “LIT!,” produced by Tasker, earning recognition from Clash Magazine and Earmilk while further establishing himself as one of Australia’s most exciting musical exports.
This year marks the beginning of Kwasi’s most ambitious artistic chapter thus far, with his forthcoming debut album, Outstanding MISFIT, gradually taking shape through a carefully curated run of singles. “Motions” first introduced listeners to the album’s world, earning a place on Apple Music’s New in Hip-Hop playlist before “Gold on Her Tongue” and “UPPERS!” expanded its emotional and sonic landscape.

Now Kwasi returns with “Troublemaker,” another pivotal chapter in the story leading towards Outstanding MISFIT. Produced by Paco Laprod, the track revolves around punchy rhythms, heavy low end energy, sirens and relentless momentum, it capturing a controlled aggression that feels at once confrontational and reflective. The song revels in the label of outsider, transforming accusation into empowerment while exploring the possibility that genuine freedom comes through accepting misunderstanding over resisting it.
It’s a theme closely connected to the wider ideas explored throughout Outstanding MISFIT, where alienation becomes not just an obstacle but the driving factor of self-discovery. That perspective reflects Kwasi’s own experience of often feeling like an outsider and with “Troublemaker,” he channels those emotions into music that dissolves the lines between artist and alter ego. Jumping straight in with the pulse of bouncy percussion and buzzy bass tones, Kwasi’s moody vocal leads enter with rhythmic delivery, stitching memorable hooks into the grooving arrangement to form an anthemic alternative outing that’s infectious, danceable and highly unique from start to finish.
Served up in a potent two minute dose, “Troublemaker” sees Kwasi deliver an epic showcase of his engrossing musical output. Known for combining soaring indie pop melodies with post punk energy and soulful hip hop flows, Kwasi continues to go from strength to strength with each release and we can’t wait to see what his forthcoming debut full-length record has in store.
