Athens-based musician Dimosthenis Arnaoutakis has spent the last several years walking a unique path through instrumental music, bringing together threads from Greek tradition, American roots music and the spirit of vintage guitar records. A professional musician since 2020, he first established himself through his one-man project called Roswell 47, releasing works with Greek lyrics alongside instrumental compositions. Since parting ways with his former label, Music Mirror, this year Dimosthenis has embraced complete independence, focusing primarily on instrumental music that reflects both his heritage and his far-reaching musical curiosity.
This new outlook is central to his artistic vision; instrumental rock, spaghetti western soundtracks, jazz, blues, country and folk all find a place within his creative world, existing alongside the traditions of Greek folk music, dimotiko and rebetiko. Just as influential are the American musicians of the 1940s through the 1970s and the Greek performers who recorded in the United States during the mid-twentieth century. Their legacy can be heard through the atmosphere and aesthetic that shape Dimosthenis’s music, where melody and improvisation carry stories without the need for words.
In 2024, he stepped forward under his own name with the single “Marmelada sta Myala”, marking the beginning of a new chapter. The years that followed saw a steady string of releases, including two EPs and a full-length album issued the following year. Each new release expanded his instrumental language, revealing an artist increasingly confident in allowing guitars, rhythms and textures to speak for themselves.
Now, his latest release comes with the new record titled Early Instrumental Works: The Psychic Experiences, which continues that exciting adventure. The ten-track album serves both as a retrospective and a reaffirmation of his steadfast mission of instrumental expression, gathering earlier pieces, many of them previously released as singles or left unheard until now into a full release. Arriving as his second complete album of 2026, it offers listeners a chance to trace the outline of his sound and the influences that have shaped it along the way.

The opening track, “Salamandra,” instantly maps out the record’s character, composed originally as the first of a trio of guitar-led instrumental singles that also includes “Il Traditore” and “Jugador Blues”, the piece is built upon the pulse of the Greek syrtos rhythm. Over this traditional framework, Dimosthenis layers electric guitar improvisations and a reverb-drenched slide guitar melody that gives the composition its sense of space. The meeting of folk rhythm and expressive guitar work perfectly captures his wider artistic vision to create music that honours tradition while remaining open to exploration.
“Jugador Blues” follows with the twang of plucked guitar notes and soft rhythms, forming a moody slice of instrumental blues music that flows with intricate leads and a steady rhythmic procession. “Il Traditore” pairs strummed chords with flickering leads which dance above to cast a mesmeric musical experience brimming with slick performance while “Jazzin'” arrives with the pulse of warm bass notes before slipping into a hazy scene of brass style textures and chiming tones to expand on the range of the album.
With “The Grail,” the flutter of eastern melodic lines are piped out as the ominous march of rhythmic stabs sees Dimosthenis lean into a more experimental sphere. “Rings of Saturn” lands with the bright strum of guitar and toll of ringing bells to craft a subtly eerie soundscape where organ leads float above the immersive arrangement. “Conspiracy” offers a dark and hypnotic sound that glides with downtempo energy and haunting melodic writing, developing with the woozy plucks of lightly gritty guitar tones.
“Psychic Experiences” lands with lilting rhythmic energy as Dimosthenis’ smokey guitar leads hover above the pulse of tapped percussive shots before “Seance” drifts with brooding organ notes, further expanding the versatility of his instrumental vision. Closing the album with “Waltz,” the sway of guitar chords and smooth melodic lines combine to create a transportive and highly memorable finale to Dimosthenis Arnaoutakis’ thoroughly impressive new full-length record. By stitching together Greek musical origins with the spirit of classic American instrumental music, Dimosthenis Arnaoutakis continues to confirm that instrumental music can be every bit as vivid and communicative as song.
