Tulegon is an Italian musician, producer and singer-songwriter who’s never viewed music as a fixed destination and his catalogue has become a developing conversation about identity, memory and the many versions of ourselves that arise throughout life. Born in Puglia and influenced by years spent in Rome, the USA and now Milan, his artistic perspective has been formed through constant movement, with every place leaving its own mark on the stories he tells. Literature, songwriting, philosophy and melody are all intrinsically linked in his musical vision, through which Tulegon allows each discipline to inform the other, creating music that encourages reflection and repeated listening.
That thoughtful creative ethos was fully crstallised on last year’s concept album Pessoa, a work inspired by the Portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa and his famous use of multiple literary identities. The project explored the fragmented nature of selfhood, with each song representing a different perspective, personality or emotional idea. It was an ambitious body of work that dissolved the boundaries between electronic pop, synth pop, trip hop and alternative R&B while bringing together Italian, Portuguese, English, French and the dialect of Tulegon’s hometown of Ostuni.
It was a truly impressive record that embraced contradiction, suggesting that no single voice is capable of expressing the full complexity of being human. Now Tulegon returns with the follow up entitled Rovine, a fourteen-track album that feels like both a continuation of that artistic path and the beginning of a more intimate chapter. Pessoa previously explored the many masks people wear while Rovine turns its attention towards the experiences that shape those identities over time. Recorded independently in Milan, the album gathers together more than two decades of lyrical writing, transforming memories from childhood, adolescence and adulthood into a record that balances nostalgia with candid sonic expression.
He eschews presenting those reflections as isolated diary entries in favour of threading them together through a connected emotional atmosphere. Across the record, themes of love, destiny, fragile relationships and the search for meaning become recurring landmarks, creating an album that feels less concerned with offering definitive answers than with documenting the ongoing process of understanding life. The title also hints at the album’s central perspective which finds Tulegon interested in what remains after life’s defining moments have passed. Relationships change, memories fade and expectations shift but those fragments continue to shape who we become and that sense of quiet determination gives the record an understated emotional impact, allowing personal experiences to strike a chord beyond their original context.

Musically, the album mirrors that layered storytelling, with diverse stylistic influences meeting without disrupting the record’s identity and every arrangement serving the emotional themes of the songs. The variety of sounds reflects the complexity of the concepts explored, while the shared mood ensures the project presents a listening experience that feels carefully considered yet emotionally compelling. “Vodka Tonic” opens the LP with soft guitar notes, muted percussive taps and hushed vocals, with Tulegon’s delicate voice spinning soothing melodies carrying Italian lyrics above the laid back groove, forming an intimate alternative pop jam.
“Prendersi cura” follows with breezy flickers of guitar and the soft pulse of drums as his mellow vocals float above the lilting rhythmic sway and intricate instrumentation to cast a dreamy musical moment that’s tender and blissfully melodic. “Vampiri” leans into a moodier soundscape with the steady taps of percussion and restrained instrumental elements forming an immersive backdrop for Tulegon’s vocals which rise with emotive delivery in the chorus to lay down a highly affecting sound.
Tracks like “Monteverde” roll with with the gentle rhythmic flow and delicate vocal style, crafting an almost lullaby-esque scene that expands with dazzling melodic leads to create a thoroughly memorable song. Other highlight moments comes with songs like “Cuoio” where quiet guitar notes and subtly brooding vocal performance swirl above the crisp punch of drums as the twinkle of piano keys add enticing melodic dashes to the arrangement. “Ricci” presents a stellar slice of downtempo pop music where the wide appeal of Tulegon’s engaging songwriting is framed by a hypnotic groove and minimal layers of instrumentation, allowing the impact of his voice to really hit home.
“Granelli di sabbia” floats with elegant guitar tones and smooth percussive patterns as Tulegon’s voice glides between silky style and passages of subtly processed flourishes. Closing the album with “Passanti,” a moving scene of graceful guitar and rhythmic taps usher in his enamouring vocal work as he stitches beautiful melodic threads into the calming arrangement, offering a magical finale to his utterly delightful and truly captivating new full-length record. From start to finish, Rovine is an album that embraces life’s imperfections, recognising beauty within uncertainty while offering listeners the opportunity to slow down, reflect and find pieces of their own story hidden between the lines.
