Coming out of Phoenix, Gunshots or Fireworks have built their identity around the simple principle to make the music yourself, make it honestly and let it speak for itself. The alternative rock band first began making their presence felt at the end of 2023 with debut single “Rogue Wave Pool,” quickly marking themselves as a name to watch within the rock music sphere and since then, they’ve continued to develop a sound that finds its strength in the tension between atmosphere and impact.
Their next step came the following year with Anonymous, a debut EP that offered a fuller introduction to the band’s musical world. The release allowed Gunshots or Fireworks to map out the framework of their sound, combining melodic songwriting with the punch and movement of alternative rock. Now, the Phoenix outfit has returned with DÉSORDRE, a brand new four-track sophomore EP that expands on their sound while leaning further into the uncertainty at the heart of their music.
Across the release, atmospheric guitars, driving rhythms and melodic appeal collide to explore personal reflection, connection and isolation. Thematically, the release is shaped by uncertainty and the quiet weight of a world that increasingly feels out of balance, with the band allowing the disorder to remain present. Guitars stack upon one another, melody slices through noise and the arrangements shift between restraint and intensity to deliver an epic showcase of the Gunshots or Fireworks sound.

Recorded and released independently, the EP is the product of months of late nights, creative persistence and a conscious decision to build outside the traditional industry route. By not smoothing away the rougher edges, Gunshots or Fireworks seem willing to embrace them, allowing the contrast between noise and melody to become part of the emotional language. The EP’s closing track, “Open Mic,” provides one of its best moments of release, serving up an anthemic alternative rock track built around slick riffs, hazy vocals and catchy hooks.
Jumping straight into a driving rock scene, the crash of splashing drums and crunch of guitars collide before simmering down as split vocal lines roll above the steady groove of the arrangement. Spinning instantly memorable melodic leads carrying poignant lyrics, the instrumentation surges in the chorus where lively drums, fuzzy guitar chords and intricate lead flickers combine to deliver a gripping listening experience.
Putting their engaging songwriting flair and performance panache on full display, “Open Mic” sees Gunshots or Fireworks deliver a super rock anthem that’s sure to win over fans around the world. For a band that first appeared with “Rogue Wave Pool” less than two years ago, Gunshots or Fireworks continue to go from strength to strength with each move and we can’t wait to see what this exciting band has in store next on their thrilling musical adventure.
