Every breakthrough artist begins with a first statement but not many debut with the pure sonic impact of newcomer BAROSSA. The new project from Crowthorne-based writer and producer Kit lands with an emphatic display of artistic intent, combining slick electronic production with an insatiable appetite for the dancefloor. By day he works in a warehouse, but outside of those hours he’s been developing a musical vision that reveals an artist ready to make a significant impression.
Although BAROSSA is only just making its official entrance, there’s little about the music that feels tentative; the project arrives with the assurance of someone who has spent considerable time developing every detail before pressing play. Kit has focused on creating a sound that captures the excitement of cutting edge club culture while maintaining the production standards expected from artists already established within the electronic scene.
Now that output is showcased on the debut single titled “Please Don’t Talk To Me,” a track that revolves around heavy house grooves and relentless rhythmic momentum, delivering an energy designed to light up packed clubs and festival fields alike. Taking cues from artists such as Fisher, Dom Dolla and Fcukers, BAROSSA channels the driving punch and infectious movement associated with today’s biggest dance records while offering something original and new. Those influences become part of a wider sonic identity that feels exciting, with BAROSSA focused on creating genuine movement and euphoric dance music experiences.

It’s a debut that understands exactly where it belongs and “Please Don’t Talk To Me” feels built for late-night dancefloors, where its rolling grooves and driving low end serve up a potent dose of enthralling electronic energy. An important part of the single’s sound comes through an impressive creative partnership behind the scenes and for his debut release, Kit linked up with Grammy Award-winning producer and mix engineer Steve Dub, whose work with The Chemical Brothers has marked him as one of electronic music’s most respected production figures.
Serving as co-producer and mix engineer, Steve Dub helps bring additional sonic vigour to the record while allowing BAROSSA’s own artistic identity to remain firmly at the forefront. The track opens with a moody vocal hook repeating “please don’t talk to me” cut with stuttering chopped elements as the arrangement builds up with the bouncy pulse of bass and shuffle of punchy drums to form an energising groove. Rolling with rapped vocal lines and stabby synth textures, “Please Don’t Talk To Me” delivers an engrossing house jam that’s thrilling and highly original from start to finish.
Wrapped up in exquisite sound design and instilled with intricate builds and drops, it’s a spectacular first release from a must watch new artist on the rise. As first impressions go, BAROSSA makes a compelling one and Kit’s transition from warehouse shifts to producing club-focused records is sure to kick up more incredible musical moments. With BAROSSA set to continue sharing more of his epic sonic vision with the world, we can’t wait to see what comes next on what’s sure to be his breakout year.
