UK-based collaboration Dust Choir is formed by songwriter Ed Reilly and multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and producer Lee Thompson, who offer a project built on the belief that great songs should endure long after their release. Every composition begins with Ed’s writing before passing into Lee’s hands, where thoughtful arrangements, expressive performances and carefully considered production transform each idea into a fully realised recording. Together, they’ve forged a sound that values meaningful storytelling, atmosphere and timeless musicianship above all else.
That creative partnership has become the platform of Dust Choir’s distinctive identity, with the duo embracing a slower, more deliberate process. Their shared focus forms in creating music listeners can continue returning to years from now, songs that reveal new emotional details over time and leave a lasting impression. They capture that sonic vision via a blend of classic rock, Americana and folk stylings which frame echoes of Celtic melody and traditional storytelling. Those influences provide the framework for music that feels truly enduring while maintaining a modern independent voice where strong melodies remain central throughout, supported by lyrical imagery and arrangements that allow every tale to breathe.
Since making their artistic entrance, the project has been winning over fans and tastemakers alike across the UK and beyond. Their 2025 EP, Tide & Time, introduced many listeners to their thoughtful songwriting, earning radio support across the UK, Europe, Australia and North America. Championed by independent presenters and specialist programmes dedicated to original music, Dust Choir has continued to go from strength to strength on streaming platforms, independent radio and word of mouth, connecting with audiences who value substance, memorable songwriting and genuine musicianship.
Now the duo takes its most ambitious step yet with the arrival of its debut full-length album titled Dust and Sand. Spanning ten carefully constructed songs, the record represents the fullest expression of Dust Choir’s artistic vision thus far, offering an interconnected body of work, with recurring themes and imagery quietly linking each chapter together. Throughout Dust and Sand, roads, shifting weather, changing landscapes and the passing of time become recurring scenes that tie the songs together, becoming emotional markers that reflect journeys both physical and internal while providing a sense of continuity across the record.

Every destination reached and every path travelled carries its own story, inviting listeners to find their own experiences mirrored within the music. The album moves through themes of memory, love, loss and redemption, allowing these emotions to arise naturally through carefully observed songwriting. Opening with “Liar,” the record starts off with the patter of drums which ushers in shimmering guitar chords and a steady groove as smooth vocal leads glide in to spin memorable melodic lines above. Crafting a catchy folk rock soundscape, the track rolls with engaging rhythmic flow and smokey atmosphere peppered with intricate lead guitar flickers to serve up a stellar display of Dust Choir’s songwriting talent and performance flair.
“Shadow of the Misty Morning” follows with the patter of lively drums and jangle of guitar layers as breezy vocals deliver charming melodies carrying picture painting lyricism, forming a delightful pop-tinged jam that’s memorable and transportive from start to finish. “Waiting for the Dark” arrives with expressive vocals, acoustic guitar strums and bright backing vocalisations before the crunch of electric guitar and punch of drums brings in a pulsing arrangement capped by compelling vocal performance to serve up an infectious jam that’s timeless and impossible not to love.
Other highlights on the record include songs like “Children of Dust” with its dreamy atmosphere, hushed vocal delivery and laid back instrumentation, casting an enchanting listening experience that’s mesmeric and highly affecting. “A Sinner’s Heart” glides with fluttering guitar notes and lilting rhythmic sway as soulful vocals drift above to lay down a delicate outing dashed with hazy guitar flourishes and impassioned vocal performance.
With “She Rests Easy,” the mellow strums of acoustic guitar and sweep of vocal textures is met by alluring lead vocals, storytelling lyrics and misty guitar touches, framing Dust Choir’s songwriting in a stripped back setting. Closing the album with “Seven Days of the Maelstorm,” the blend of steady percussive pulse, emotive vocals and intricate twang of lead guitar sets up a spectacular finale that’s memorable, poignant and thoroughly moving. With Dust and Sand, Dust Choir deliver a truly captivating debut album that’s sure to impress new and existing listeners alike and we can’t wait to see what the next chapter of their compelling musical story entails.
