Hailing from Minneapolis, artist Guyver7x3 is rapidly building an expansive musical world where always emotion comes before genre. By not making a decision on what a song should sound like and fitting an idea into that box, he begins with a feeling, a state of mind or an emotional fracture. From there, the music follows its own path, whether that’s alternative R&B, cinematic pop, electronic music, hip hop, spoken word and alternative rock, all avenues appear within his work but none of them serves as a fixed destination. Emotion is always where the creative compass points.
That ethos gives Guyver7x3’s music an inherently shape-shifting quality, with his songs guided by the behaviour of the emotion at their centre and the production changing according to whether a feeling is resisting, breaking, remembering, dissociating, surviving or simply trying to continue. Some moments arrive quietly, while others distort or erupt, creating immersive environments that allow difficult experiences to be explored in whatever way feels most suitable.
Abandonment, fractured relationships, memory, self-recognition and emotional survival all find their way into Guyver7x3’s creative world, alongside the slow and sometimes uncomfortable process of becoming visible to yourself. Importantly, his songwriting is informed by emotional experience while not attempting to make every song a complete autobiographical account; personal feeling becomes a starting point for something broader. By creating spaces where listeners can remain with difficult emotions for a little longer, Guyver7x3 allows his music to acknowledge what it feels like to exist somewhere between them.
Technology also occupies an unusual position within his creative process, though it’s not treated as a replacement for human expression or as the central attraction. It’s more a form of translation, another means of communicating feelings that conventional language sometimes struggles to carry. In that sense, the technology becomes part of the emotional vocabulary, helping Guyver7x3 explore ideas that might otherwise remain difficult to fully capture.

His recent single, “Slowly Ready,” turns that idea towards a quieter kind of transformation by focusing on the moment when you realise that having everything figured out is not a prerequisite for moving forward. It lands in the unknown space between questioning yourself and beginning to change, capturing the feeling of no longer standing still even when the destination remains unclear. “Slowly Ready” is built around the idea of becoming and its emotional centre forms in the recognition that growth can happen subtly, without a definitive moment when everything suddenly makes sense.
Healing, identity, change, starting again and finally choosing yourself all become part of that process, framing the idea that growth doesn’t need to happen according to somebody else’s timeline. Hesitation, uncertainty and unfinished parts of yourself don’t necessarily represent failure, they can in fact be evidence that something’s already changing. Drifting into focus with the ominous swell of dark instrumental tones, the brooding presence of hushed vocals is met by thumping beats which inject a punching groove as the rising intensity of the vocals crafts an enthralling soundscape.
Flowing through moments of stripped back aesthetic and rolling through passages of anthemic electronic pop cut with lively backing vocalisations, “Slowly Ready” serves up a defiant outing from start to finish. Rising with the charge of driving dance-focused rhythms and led by impassioned vocal leads, it’s a spectacular showcase Guyver7x3’s sensational sonic output with a song that’s exhilarating, hugely infectious and thematically profound all at once. With “Slowly Ready,” Guyver7x3’s emotional journey becomes one of self-recognition and while the realisation that becoming ready is not something that necessarily happens all at once, sometimes, you’re already moving forward before you’ve found the words to describe where you’re going.
